KFC AD

Just saw this tv ad with young guy talking about how working for KFC is fantastic... However AIBU to feel a bit yeuch that he is shown handling the raw chicken and crumbing it with BARE HANDS, ie no gloves? Then ad moves on to the customers eating the defiled chicken! Made me feel slightly ill [not I am sure the effect that KFC wanted from their advertising!]

In my saner mind I do realise that any germs from hands transferred to chicken will probably be blasted to smithereens in the boiling oil in the fryer... but I can't help thinking that he probably didn't wash his hands post peeing or pooing and is now smearing this all over the meat Confused. Also wondering at the transfer of germs from raw chicken to those fresh salads they are also shown preparing.

Not a KFC fan anyway but has just made me even more reluctant to eat there where they employ careless young men with questionable hygiene habits...

AIBU? Feel free to let me know if I am just being precious and an old biddy with an over-active imagination Grin

I thought exactly the same.

Germs can be passed on more through unwashed latex gloves than through well washed hands.

I will never wear CSI gloves when cooking, and no one will die. Because I know how to use soap.

But meh, we're talking KFC, and the guy in the ad is probably the most conscientious person they have in the whole firm so yes, that does worry me a little.

I used to work there and the kitchen staff must wear a pair of gloves while handling raw chicken which must then be disposed of immediately and a fresh pair used for the next batch.

Whether or not all branches follow this policy I have no idea, but ours does, along with all staff washing their hands every so many minutes rule, so I will continue to enjoy my fillet towers Grin

I have no idea why the Ad doesn't show this procedure in practise. Our branch is very clean.

The people featured in the Ad are part of a comeptition and are indeed the very best that KFC has to offer Hmm

He will have done a food hygene course so should be washing his hands properly. BTW he could still wipe his arse and pick his nose whilst wearing the gloves. Hygene is down to the individual carrying out the rules not the supposed safety measures.

Yes Birdsgottafly I know you're right... But it was just too in my face to see him fondling the chicken with naked hands. Sometimes a bit of ignorance is bliss, particularly when it comes to eating fast food!
