Ok, so I was just in the middle of replying to an OP when the thread no longer existed when I submitted my response... this irks me.

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 07/05/2011 23:18

oh. did you need to namechange to let us know or were you already irked???

lucilastic · 07/05/2011 23:21

Are you referring to the McCann's thread? Why was it deleted? Did people get all libellous and potty mouthed?

irkedindeed · 07/05/2011 23:36

thisisyesterday - I namechange according to my mood :)

lucilastic - there have been others but yes the McCann's thread was deleted, mostly it appears, due to continous namecalling, OP getting upset, and I guess easier to delete whole thread than continue policing posts

OP posts:

Sometimes I think they could be locked & sent to a dungeon somewhere for us to read, obv sometimes posts cannot be allowed to stand but the discussion will begin again and then we chase our tails. plus I am nosy and would like to read threads at leisure

GypsyMoth · 07/05/2011 23:39

no libel
irks me too

BitOfFun · 07/05/2011 23:40

I hid that thread earlier. I suppose it would have been deleted for legal reasons.

Oakmaiden · 07/05/2011 23:41

It would be better if they could just lock threads, so nothing further can be posted. It irritates me that they completely disappear.

norwegianwood · 07/05/2011 23:42

I agree with ILoveTiffany. There was no libel on that thread. Merely opinions. MNHQ allowed the thread to continue for quite a while just deleting individual posts.
Pisses me off no end. No explanation from MNHQ either.

GypsyMoth · 07/05/2011 23:42

nope bof.......it had moved away from mcann talk

GypsyMoth · 07/05/2011 23:43

i think they deleted it in case it got libelous overnight??

oh i see,how do you know this then Beertricks?
thought that as they are so hot on deleting mm threads then they might pre empt this one in light of the book serialisation being out today??

I think deleted threads ought to be put somewhere for us to read - ditto trolls. There was a troll recently - had a lot of bad things happen very quickly - and the poster reminded me very much of one a few years ago - but it had long gone so there was no way to check that the posting style was the same (i thought it was)

It also helps with the 'arsehole' check for future reference...

ZillahWhoDrankTooMuchGin · 08/05/2011 00:57

Meaning those with 'arsehole' opinions are there forever.....

GColdtimer · 08/05/2011 04:05

I think the op asked for it to be deleted to answer those of you wondering why it went.

hairfullofsnakes · 08/05/2011 06:13

Yes the op wanted it deleted and wanted to deregister and leave mn!

HubbaHubbaBubba · 08/05/2011 06:23

I hid the thread after the OP's first post - felt that whatever was going to be written from either side wasn't going to be anything I would want to read - far too contentious but now I'm wishing I'd stayed on to read a bit more and nose into the details a bit more

What is 'gf'? (Gina Ford?)

ohnelly · 08/05/2011 06:54

Girlfriend? Gf?

ohnelly · 08/05/2011 06:55

Ignore last post! It's not that, I hadn't read all above
