FGS. We just want to go out for the day! The children each want to go somewhere different and I don't want to be the bad mum and choose one child over the other.

so MN - the choice is yours...

Australia Zoo or Noosa Beach?

Australia Zoo is full of animals. We can feed the elephants, go on pony rides, stroke koalas and feed lazy kangaroos. We can try and avoid shops full of overpriced tat Steve Irwin memorabilia. We can use the word 'crikey' in an ironic fashion.

Noosa Beach is a bloody enormous beach. White sand, palm trees, tropical sea shells. Squeaky sand that keeps me them entertained for ages. Warm water to swim in.

AIBU to ask you to choose? I don't care. Just choose - please!!

Oh do me a turn. Warm beach or exotic zoo? Tomorrow my son has the choice of a car boot sale or Tesco.

Anyway if it were me I'd opt for the beach.

FabbyChic · 01/05/2011 23:45

The beach!

Redazzy · 01/05/2011 23:48

Ah, have friends that just moved back from Brisbane to UK so as their favourite spot in the whole of the land, Noosa must win. What is not to like? I have seen their pictures and wish I could choose to go there tomorrow! Australia Zoo would be good if the weather was a bit rubbish.

Whatever you choose, have a wonderful time.

PumpkinBones · 01/05/2011 23:49

Zoo!

GapsAGoodUn · 01/05/2011 23:49

Lubberlich - don't tease a poor woman with thoughts of Tesco. All the supermarkets here are closed. Honestly. Bank holidays around here are like, well, bloody bank holidays. sigh.

If you go to Australia Zoo you might bump into the Wiggles Shock -

(liked SU very much so not having a go at him - just the bloody Wiggles)

Schnullerbacke · 01/05/2011 23:54

You have a few options:

  1. drop the two options in a hat and then luck of draw wins

  2. choose one activity today and the next one next weekend

  3. tell them to trash it out between them (if old enough) and if no decision is made in next 10 mins, you will leave them behind and will have a smashing day on your own

Either way, you can't lose wherever you go. They both sound fab so have a great day.

AgentZigzag · 01/05/2011 23:54

Oh, what a terrible dilemma you have to deal with.

I really feel for you...not Envy

I'd pick the zoo first (sucker for a koala, even though I've not seen the real thing) and then go to the beach the next day Smile

We've not had any days out for aaages and went to the seaside yesterday and a local park/big house today, even though not on the same scale as yours (cowbag Grin), it's really swept the cobwebs away.

lubberlich · 01/05/2011 23:57

Gaps - really no you have the better deal. Warm water and white sand trumps shitty supermarket hands down. Envy

I can't begin to imagine what Steve Irwin memorabilia looks like.

Australia Zoo! We were there a couple of weeks ago (for the first time in five years or so) and the DCs loved it (again). We paid huge amounts of money to go into went into the wombat enclosure to play with them, which was brilliant, but just feeding the kangaroos and elephants (free) was almost as good, and you can catch the wombats on their walkabout around the zoo in the afternoon anyway. We also happened to be there on a day when Terri, Bindi and Bob were doing the big croc show, but I'm sure it would be good with the other presenters anyway. They do try and get you to spend more money at every opportunity (photos and so on), but some good things are free, like the children's bouncy slide etc.

Noosa Beach is lovely too, but it is just a big, empty, sandy beach with hunky lifeguards so not quite as exciting for the DCs, I would have thought?

GapsAGoodUn · 01/05/2011 23:58

That would be great if we were on hols AgentZigZag (btw are you named after the seminal children's programme), but we are now living here, so DH is back at work, and the children are back at school tomorrow.

Hmm. It's looking like the beach...
