A toilet one

ReindeerBollocks · 01/05/2011 22:22

We were out at the park today when my eldest DC needed the bathroom. The park has some public toilets which we used.

DC1 asked me to accompany him to the toilet, as he has some medical needs which can make toilet trips difficult, but fairly urgent. DS was in the toilet for quite a while and had created somewhat of a smell. Now it wasn't a massive bathroom (they had three toilets) so a queue had formed and obviously realised where the smell had come from.

As we were exiting the bathroom, there was a particularly vocal mother who was quite loudly stating how the smell was disgusting and that some people shouldn't be allowed to use public toilets (whilst staring at DS and I) - she then told her DD to not use the toilet we had used as it was foul. DS was in pain at this point (due to medical issues) so I ignored her and we left quickly.

But IABU to think she was a rude bitch? Public toilets are generally not wonderful, so I am not sure what her point was?

And yes I know this is a very trivial thread, and I really should just get over it but I can't help but feel fiercely protective of DS, especially when this is something he cannot control.

What a fucker. Ignore her.

It's a friggin toilet, that's what it's there for.

I think you were very restrained, I'd have ripped into her, stupid idiot woman!!!

MmaIvvy · 01/05/2011 22:25

YANBU she sounds like a knob. It's a bloody toilet - what the bloody hell are you supposed to do in it?!

follyfoot · 01/05/2011 22:28

As my late Dad used to say if anyone commented on a niff after he had been in the loo:

"And I suppose yours smell of violets........."

socialhandgrenade · 01/05/2011 22:29

Yes some people shouldn't be allowed to use the public toilets. As a rule, people who think their shit doesn't stink should be banned.

Your poor DS. Hope he is ok.

heliumballoons · 01/05/2011 22:31

If shes allowed to spout shite anywhere, then I'm pretty sure she can't complain about people doing it in appropriate places. Wink

YANBU and I hope DS feels better soon.

GreenEyesandHam · 01/05/2011 22:32

Should have told her the loo smelled better than her attitude

TotemPole · 01/05/2011 22:37

Yes, a rude bitch indeed.

DaisyLovesMetronidazole · 01/05/2011 22:39

She was very rude.

What did she expect a loo to smell of anyway?

AgentZigzag · 01/05/2011 22:41

What did she expect people did when they disappeared behind the cubical door? Confused

How embarrassing for her to think it was appropriate to comment on someone else coming out of the loo.

Feel sorry for her, and her poor DD.

ReindeerBollocks · 01/05/2011 22:45

Thank you all for not flaming me!

I know it is not a nice issue to discuss, but I felt so angry and upset, even though it's stupid and a none issue.

DS not ok, been to the bathroom a lot since we got in and has had a lot of stomach pain, his meds need to be changed, and he's been rather upset over it all tonight, poor chap.

Hope your son feels better soon. Poor mite. It's hard enough without adults making ignorant remarks.

Ignore the woman. She does not know how lucky she is to have a child who doesn't have the misery of issues with poo/digestive problems etc.

My 6 yr old has been on meds for the last few months that make him trump. Oh boy they are whiffy. I had to warn his teacher and thankfully his classmates have either ignored or made amusing but kind jokes that he's found funny - no malice and my boy thinks trumps are funny. I've been so glad it's not added more misery to my son.

halcyondays · 01/05/2011 22:59

YANBU, she was a rude bitch. Your poor DS. One of my DDs has a lot of toilet issues and I'd have been really upset if this had happened to her.

AgentZigzag · 01/05/2011 23:05

I'm impressed you managed to keep your cool reindeer.

You'd have been quite within your rights to give her some back, but it's good you didn't for your DS.

Poor little lad having to put up with being ill and then hearing the woman saying that Sad

blackeyedsusan · 01/05/2011 23:36

where exactly do you think she expected him to go? Hmm

i think she has clearly demonstrated the lack of brain cells by making that comment. Grin

pigletmania · 01/05/2011 23:50

YANBU what an utter bitch, its a toilet fgs not a beauty salon Angry what does she expect Hmm. The mentality of some people shocks me, don't worry about that inbred, nice example she is setting her dd eh? I wish I was there with you, I would have put her in her place.

pigletmania · 01/05/2011 23:53

your poor ds Sad hope that he feels better soon.

Goofymum · 01/05/2011 23:55

Some people are just nasty and brainless and I hope you and your DS do not think about it for too much longer as this woman is not worth your energy or time.

PumpkinBones · 01/05/2011 23:59

YANBU. SHe sounds absolutely pathetic. Comfort yourself with the thought that she is probably very uptight, and doesn't have much joy in her life.

KatieMiddleton · 02/05/2011 00:00

Uptight? Probably constipated.

OP YADNBU.

Mummywalsh · 02/05/2011 00:12

OMG Lady you are good, I would have gone ballistic, how bloody dare she? Have just told DH who has gone into a rage (if you need an escort in future, he's got your back). What a vile woman, DH asks does her shit smell of roses?

MCos · 02/05/2011 01:13

Ah, poor OP and your DC.

Stupid women has no empathy. Smelly poos = unwell child.

Normal reaction would be 'ah, poor child'.

kaid100 · 02/05/2011 01:52

Clearly, this woman's craps smell of a dozen red roses or an autumn glade. Ignore her.

VajazzHands · 02/05/2011 02:09

Good for you OP, i'd have probably hit her.. BUt I'm not terribly restrained.
WHat a bitch

FreudianSlipper · 02/05/2011 02:17

sometimes a feel a slap (adult to adult) is justified, and this is such a time what a stupid bitch why are some people so unaware of the effect they say on others

hope your ds gets his meds changed and feels better soon and realises that this woman is just not worth getting upset over
