AIBU To Think That

The people who make the nastiest comments about other people's appearances are probably the ones who don't look too presentable themselves?

It is usually the case though, isn't it?

shut it curly

scottishmummy · 29/04/2011 23:50

are you a munter and feeling insecure?

HalfPastWine · 29/04/2011 23:51

Munter I love that word Grin

HarrietSchulenberg · 29/04/2011 23:55

Yup. I resemble a fat bulldog chewing a wasp and yet I spent much of the morning uncharitably laughing at the unstylishness of princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

I find that mocking the appearance of others makes me feel better about my own lack of attractiveness.

HarrietSchulenberg · 29/04/2011 23:56

O lordy that came out a bit wrong. Just read it back and I sound REALLY horrible. Most of it was a joke. Apart from the chortling at princesses thing. That was true.

HalfPastWine · 30/04/2011 00:02

We can be a shallow society at times obsessed with people's appearances. The press/media don't help matters either.

I am guilty of judging on appearances however with age I realise how shallow this really is, it about the person on the inside.

nijinsky · 30/04/2011 00:04

"are you a munter and feeling insecure?"

Me? No. But the few nasty comments I've had in my life would have been from fat jealous munters.

Its just that I find the some of the more vile and bitchy comments on the RW guests a bit harsh. None of them are unattractive people. I just suspect that people who make these sort of comments are not exactly what you would call lookers themselves.

It's like school nijinsky, people are insecure so will look at the 'faults' of others in an attempt to make themselves feel better, even if these 'faults' do not actually exist. It's not a case of being unpresentable so will produce nasty comments about others, if someone feels ugly inside then their comments are aimed to make them feel better.

scottishmummy · 30/04/2011 00:16

no its not like school its online blether, chwin the fat
dont attribute any value to mn blah blah about who wore what.that would be overstating it

duckypoo · 30/04/2011 00:21

I don't think it's true tbh, it's like that saying that bullies are always insecure etc. Nope, bullies usually have all the power, are usually very self assured and delight in making people feel shit, they usually have the hangers on who probably are very insecure, but no the meek will not inherit the fecking earth Grin

fit2drop · 30/04/2011 00:22

So because I think that Beatrice and Eugenie cannot possibly have mirrors in their home then I possibly shouldn't look in a mirror either for fear of scaring myself with my munterishness, OKaaaaaay,
And with your comments OP then only people who make generous and "nice" comments about people are "lookers" and slim and gorgeous,

Hmmm thats not a nice thing to say now is it OP, but at least we know because of your mean comments then you must by your own set up be in the munter camp Grin

Oh lord I confuse myself sometimes but Ikwim .

belledechocchipcookie · 30/04/2011 00:26

All bullies are insecure, they see someone who's prettier/richer/brighter and they don't like it so they want to squash them down.

It's the geeks that run the world (Bill Gates et al).

HalfPastWine · 30/04/2011 00:39

What's that phrase .....'If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all'

scottishmummy · 30/04/2011 00:42

for fuck sake mn would grind to halt on that mantra

HalfPastWine · 30/04/2011 00:43

scottishmummy Grin

I don't think I could follow it myself either, I love a good bitch from time to time. I am trying to be a nicer person though...honestly! :)

scottishmummy · 30/04/2011 00:46

can you imagine fluffy mn say something nice.you cow.or else

Serenitysutton · 30/04/2011 00:50

No, beautiful people notice when ugly people look unattractive as much as anyone else does
