I have been asking DP to mow the lawn since the beginning of march, he has said that our lawn mower was not suitable as it is actually a strimmer [cconfused]. And would borrow one form some friends or other (not sure who, and have offered to ask several of my friends but have been told it's under control)

So told him that if it was not done by today I would use the strimmer and do the lawn myself, which I now have done and have to say the lawn looks a bit worse for wear now! but damm it his procrastinating was driving me mad and would like to be able to let the children and animals out side with out having to gear them up for an Indiana Jones style trek across the garden!

He has to buy a lawnmower now! You did the right thing imo

Yup, you did the right thing...you DID warn him so he cannot say a dicky bird.

I dare you to go on and on about how lovely it now looks, and what a great job you have done, and how the kids have been admiring it and asking for a picnic on it..

Mollymax · 28/04/2011 16:43

Why does he have to buy a lawn mower, or mow the lawn?
Are you not capable?
Quick trip to B and Q, and you are sorted.
We are living in the year 2011

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 16:44

Not to be rude, but what Molly said

Ormirian · 28/04/2011 16:44

Also agree with Molly. I didn't know you needed a penis to mow the lawn.

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 16:45
MittzyTheMinx · 28/04/2011 16:51

Do you really not need a penis for mowing the lawn? I have a strap on one just for that job..bugger, that's what the neighbours were staring at!

It is handy for hanging the flex over so I don't mow over it though...

Cymar · 28/04/2011 17:08

Actually, Molly has a point OP. You don't need to be of the male species to mow a lawn. I always go by the idea that if I want something done, I'll do it myself, and if I can't, then I get a professional.

I think it IS the law that you have to be male to mow the lawn. This is because otherwise the woman will not bother to use an ancient heavy petrol-driven thing that needs specialist engineering knowledge to start up, and also will not bother to do stripes.

This woman would go and buy a flymo but it would not be worth the fallout...

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 28/04/2011 17:19

YANBU
But I would have gone and bought lawnmower for him left it out in the garden and locked the doors he wouldn't get in till it's done Grin

Not saying u have to have penis to mow lawn but if he's accepted that responsibility he should do it!

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay · 28/04/2011 17:21

YANBU. End of.

I want a strap on flex holder. Do LoveHoney sell them? Amazing......Wink

LoopyLoopsNincompoop · 28/04/2011 17:25

How can you not have a mower?

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 28/04/2011 17:28

Photo?

Let us know what he says Grin

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 17:31

Of course, if it's a fact that the only thing he does around the house is to mow the lawn and he hasn't done it, then that's a different matter ...

squeakytoy · 28/04/2011 17:31

I mow the lawn in this house. Its hardly difficult to buy mower, plug it in and use.

breatheslowly · 28/04/2011 17:46

Even with a mower your lawn would probably look a bit ropey if this is the first time in the year that you have done it as it doesn't look great if it has been left too long then cut.

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 17:49

I have strimmed the whole lawn before as I couldn't be arsed to get the mower out. Twas OK but actually harder work than mowing

zikes · 28/04/2011 17:55

This puzzles me. [cconfused]

lazylula · 28/04/2011 18:44

There are very few jobs that dh does, but mowing the lawn if one of them , if only to save me the embarassment of the neighbours seeing me do it as I have a tendency to treat the lawnmower like a hoover, going backwards and forwards over the same bit [cblush]

SomethingProfound · 28/04/2011 19:51

Reality it is a strimmer, but quite a large one which is what confused me as it looks more like a mower and I had always thought that strimmers were the like the ones in your link.
this is the first house I have lived in that has a garden, so yes lawn mowing is new territory for me.

And as molly ect said yes I could have done it myself, but once I asked him and he said he would I got myself into the mindset of you have said you are going to do this so do it.
