There is a Christmas topic over there ==> somewhere. You may find fellow Xmas freaks in it. I'm a Xmas freak but Xmas shopping hasn't entered my head yet!

GreenToes · 27/04/2011 11:38

I already bought some Christmas decorations Blush there was a closing down sale and they were down to 10p for a tube of baubles!

Are you planning now because you're on a tight budget or because you love Christmas so much?

knittedbreast · 27/04/2011 11:50

both! i LOVE xmas the way small children do. I love the sneaking, you know sneaking to get the pressies, hiding them. checking on them. wrapping and rewrapping and photographing them! (please someone else say they wrap their pressies arrange, rearrange and then photo them?)

i am on a tight budget, if i buy a couple each month they are all done before xmas. but then i feel a bit sad and buy more, then take them back.

im thinking i might need help of some kind. :(

the baubles very good deal for 10 p! what colour? the xmas shops have good deals on boxing day, but you have to look through it. theres a lot of crap

I do the photo thing too so you're not completely bonkers [cwink]

Wish I was a as organised as you. I'm useless.

TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 11:59

No sorry I don't, just you [cgrin]

OTOH Ds is 22 months so doesn't 'get it' yet. Things could change, don't think I'll go down the photographing route though..

TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 12:00

Ok not just you then!

compo · 27/04/2011 12:00

you get flamed even if you mention Christmas in the Xmas topic in August, lol

knittedbreast · 27/04/2011 12:03

yay someone else! i photograph them to remember the magical xmas look prior to children ripping them apart at breakneck speed.

i wont even get started on my hand made bits no one notices, but at least i enjoy them!

OP posts:
NotShortImFunSized · 27/04/2011 12:10

That's why I do it too, so I can remember that it all looked lovely for 5 minutes and I really did make some effort!

Think the handmade bits might just be pushing it though Wink

TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 12:14

Actually while you're here...

What do you do for advent calenders? I have a hand made one (not by me) and thought I might put something else in there other than chocolate. Can't think of anything tho

knittedbreast · 27/04/2011 12:14

i made my own wrapping paper, used differnt materials for the ribbons and made own xmas cards and gift tags. knitted xmas stockings and tree decorations.

i just enjoy making things and others think im odd so i make my own!

OP posts:
knittedbreast · 27/04/2011 12:16

i buy my advent calenders lol! they love having a little chocolate every day and pushing through the silver foil and then ignoring the xmas picture on the back!

you could put a small tree decoration each day of the calender?

OP posts:
TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 12:16

It's not odd, I think it's lovely.

Wish I was a bit more crafty!

ja9 · 27/04/2011 12:19

I'm a Christmas freak too! I've picked p a stocking filler or two - only because i've seen little things that i don't want to give the kids for no reason. Don't usually start to think seriously about it til Sept / Oct. xx

TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 12:20

Haha! That's a good idea, although not sure Ds would know what to do with it!

I just know my mum will end up buying him a chocolate one!

NotShortImFunSized · 27/04/2011 12:23

Wow you're gooood! Wish I had the time to do all that. I paid somebody to make all mine a knitted xmas stocking each last year. They are so cute Grin

Tragic - how about getting a small xmas themed puzzle and splitting pieces between all the pockets? Might be a bit long to wait to finish a puzzle though!

NorbertDentressangle · 27/04/2011 12:26

I normally wait until Oct/Nov time but I might do it all online on Friday......anything to avoid the sodding Royal Wedding!

knittedbreast · 27/04/2011 12:31

im working on fri when i wouldnt usually just to avoid the wedding. i shall be pleased if i can last into 2012 without knowing what dress she wore.

im not good, i just dont get out much. i knit and make instead! please dont think making it is a cheaper option though, it can get bloody expensive.

one of the nicer things i made was with brown wrapping paper, i painted my daughter and sons feet in red/green and then put foot prints all over the paper and covered the painted prints in glitter and let it dry. it looked amaxing and the family loved it! but all took the piss out of me for it too.

if you do it every year, you have a foot print record of your babies :)

OP posts:
TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 12:33

That might a good idea for a few years time FunSized. Ds will only be 2.6 so might be a peed off having to wait a month to finish a puzzle Grin

But maybe a set of something? I do have a few months to think about it!

TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 12:34

I think that's lovely

VinegarTits · 27/04/2011 12:37

YABU to post about it
