Over an iPad?

DH bought me a gift of an iPad after a recent hospital stay. It was a surprise and not something I asked for.

On arrival of new iPad, DH gives me his old iPad, and takes the new iPad for himself. I'm still more than happy, as it's a gift and am glad that we don't have to share computers.

However, DH has broken his (the newer of the two ipads). He now wants the old one back - the one he gave me as I gift.

AIBU in telling him 'No flecking way? My gift, my iPad'? He's pretty adamant he's getting it back if his can't be fixed (fat chance getting it off me - I'm on MN Grin )

DH got his iPad working, (something about an old iTunes messing up and crashing his operating system).

I showed him this thread anyway! He was a bit miffed and said he'd never have taken my iPad as it's not worth his life Grin. But he was being moody yesterday and apologised for even suggesting taking back the iPad.

Good old MN and good on DH for admitting he was in the wrong.

My BIL did the same thing to my Sis and she told him No!!! Then he used her credit card to buy a new one!! And she took it off him, and gave him the one he gave her!! Technically, its hers...he used her cc. Cheeky twat!!

ha ha this sounds just like my hubby! i wouldve laughed in his face although he wouldve been straight on his macbook pro or iphone trying to find forums to fix ipad bless him. Bit of an apple geek! but then he does work for them so..

I think you should show him this, and tell him he's been sucked in Grin

What is it with men and technology they come over all selfish and "MINE MINE MINE"?!

My normally kind and generous DH bought me an iPod video a few years back as my birthday present. They were still new then btw! He bought me a second hand one. I was more than happy with it as it was immaculate and like new and significantly cheaper than brand new. Win win as far as I was concerned!

Well, I was happy with it until he came home the next day with a brand new one for himself that was also more expensive than mine would have been new because he bought the bigger Gb model. He was very happy because, as he pointed out, if he hadnt bought mine second hand then he wouldnt have been able to afford the better one for himself.

This isnt the first time he has done something like that with technology. He doesnt see a problem with trying to persuade me to buy a cheaper mobile phone for example so that we can afford for him to have a flashier one.

He, to this day, doesnt see the problem with the ipods. As far as he is concerned, I got a really nice gift for my birthday and he got what he wanted! When I asked why he didnt give me the new one and keep the second hand one himself he looked all confused and said "But I wanted a new one and I didnt think you would be bothered"

Thanks Hmm

Thank goodness your DH has backed down, although he is probably deep down wondering what the hell your problem is :o

If you take it into Apple, they will have a look at the broken one, or you could ring their support line, it should still be under warranty if less than a year old.

bellavita · 25/04/2011 22:58

Ah, see he has fixed it.

Bloomin' cheek of the man.

purplepidjin · 25/04/2011 23:00

I'm glad he admitted it, OP!

DP agrees with Soups DH and Dunnoh - selfish and childish and YADNBU Grin

olibeansmummy · 25/04/2011 23:02
