What is the point in dress sizes.

They are so different in different shops! I am about an 8, 6 on the bottom in some shops (Warehouse, M&S pants). But sometimes a 10. Or a 12, especially if it's a dress from Primark and I can't wedge my tits in

Confused

What is the point in even having sizes?

well how would you suggest they label clothes

ohmyfucksy · 24/04/2011 17:30

Actual measurements like men's sizes

Ok but then what would they do if there were no sizes Grin

happyinherts · 24/04/2011 17:32

I know what you mean. Primark have a knack of making you feel eugh about yourself. I thought it was me putting on too much weight too quickly. I've learnt my lesson though. Always take tape measure with me when shopping.

You can buy actual size trousers and jeans in places like Gap.

You don't buy a size 12 pair of jeans, it's a 30W/30L etc.

ohmyfucksy · 24/04/2011 17:34

Yeah it would be a bit difficult to size tops etc. because of boobs

But honestly - there is such variation. Can't they be standardised?

i have a feeling there is an EU standardised sizing... will google

WillieWaggledagger · 24/04/2011 17:42

aha!

happyinherts · 24/04/2011 17:47

That standard isn't compulsory - and is only applicable to clothing made in Europe.

So much seems to come from China, India, Taiwan, countries in that area, and pretty cheaply made IMO.

I agree with the OP in that it does seem such a gamble regarding sizes. Only way is to take a tape measure. Dress I liked in Primark a few weeks back had the bust size of a 16 three inches larger than an 18. There should be no excuse for things like that.
