DH has served me chunks of chicken breast cooked with onions, mixed herbs, white wine and noney (not white wine and honey sauce, just white wine and honey poured in the pan) with rice.

AIBU to think this is really rubbish?

Erm...does anyone on here really give a flying f^ck?

TheArmadillo · 21/04/2011 20:50

YANBU

that sounds rank

Its the honey that does it

shakey1500 · 21/04/2011 20:50

Sounds quite nice. Certainly not "really rubbish" so YABU.

GeorgeEliot · 21/04/2011 20:51

At least he is making an effort to cook for you.

You sound a bit ungrateful.

TattyDevine · 21/04/2011 20:51

I've heard worse...a cream liaison would have made it a little more of a "dish" but surely the flavours are not horrendous and that aside, its balanced (assuming some veg)?

True though, do get over it. He's not your personal chef. If a man complained he'd get flamed.

NettoSuperstar · 21/04/2011 20:52

It doesn't appeal to me but then we had Macca's for teaGrin

feggyart · 21/04/2011 20:52

flip this round??

YABU

TattyDevine · 21/04/2011 20:52

True he could have lost the honey and had a dash of cream or marscapone or philly.

Feck it. Get a Dominos, get on with life, job done.

itsabiggywhatdoidonow · 21/04/2011 20:54

sounds ok, what is white wine and honey sauce, if its not just poured in a pan and cooked? Hmm

imgonnaliveforever · 21/04/2011 20:56

"At least he's making an effort to cook for you."

Yes, how lucky I am to get cooked for one night a week. I shouldn't expect a man to set foot in the kitchen really, so I should be grateful for whatever I get.

Honey and white wine taste rubbish together. I don't see the point in being cooked for if it is inedible.

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 21/04/2011 20:58

Was he thinking it would be like like mead or something?

Too much masterchef watching perhaps?

DreamsInBinary · 21/04/2011 20:58

It does sound a bit shit, tbh

Strumpypumpy · 21/04/2011 20:59

YANBU, I served a shocker of an improvised dinner a few weeks ago, involving pork, stock cubes, veggies (some frozen) and herbs. The finishing touch was natural yogurt. All served with rice. It was so bad I apologized at the table. And didn't make anyone eat it! We had scrambled egg on toast instead.

imgonnaliveforever · 21/04/2011 21:00

HE was thinking "what's nearest the front of the cupboard and is quick." Long history of putting non-matching ingredients together, eg linguini, bacon and black bean sauce.

OP posts:
GeorgeEliot · 21/04/2011 21:00

how would you feel if he complained about what you served him?

he was experimenting, it didn't taste great, so what?

Hardly grounds for complaint.

Or do you produce perfect meals for the other 6 nights.

YABVU.

nometime · 21/04/2011 21:01

I'd be grateful that DH had cooked at all. We all have culinary "lapses"!

imgonnaliveforever · 21/04/2011 21:03

Yes, I produce very good meals every time I cook for him. I do experiment, but based on what I think will taste good not just mix and match from the cupboard.

OP posts:
GeorgeEliot · 21/04/2011 21:08

You are lucky that you are a naturally gifted cook.

Clearly your dh is not as talented as you are.

If it upsets you so much, why not give him a few lessons and he will probably improve+

TeddyMcardle · 21/04/2011 21:11

Doesn't sound to bad to me, but then I am a glutton that will eat practically anything even if I don't really like it [buhmm]

FabbyChic · 21/04/2011 21:12

You could always cook 7 nights a week instead!

Merlotmonster · 21/04/2011 21:18

Einstein..you made me laugh!!! (is that bad.??) but hey, Ive had a couple of glasses of wine! hic Wine

Casmama · 21/04/2011 21:19

I think yanbu. If he only cooks once a week it sounds like it is under sufference so he deliberately cooks something revolting in the hope that you will stop asking him.

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 21/04/2011 21:20

sound disgusting. have some toast instead.

Bringonthegoat · 21/04/2011 21:22

YANBU - foul
