to not understand why DH thinks I need to come on MN to 'confess' what I did over DD's easter bonnet today?

'Confess what?' I said. 'I was just being a normal, loving mother.'
He did this faceHmm at me.

Honestly, there is nothing to confess.

But with all this typing he now thinks I have posted my terrible crimes on here for all to see, so we'll leave it it that.

Happymm Just click on my name; a new window will appear with my singularly uninformative profile; then click on photos to view.

It is truly a spectacular hat FP. However, you she missed off the chocolate eggs every Easter bonnet should have. For the record YANBU

triskaidekaphile · 21/04/2011 22:13

Bloody great hat!

thisisyesterday · 21/04/2011 22:18

generally they give prizes to ones the children have made themselves. at least, they do at ds2's nursery and ds1's school.

if it's obvious a parent has made it then it's never gonna win!

i do like it though Grin

FannyPriceless · 21/04/2011 22:32

Really? When they are two years old? How could they possibly make it themselves?

GrimmaTheNome · 21/04/2011 22:34

They have to have 'helped'. Or appear to have done so - hence the need to artfully (if not artistically) bedaub your child as well as the hat.

Meglet · 21/04/2011 22:38

Loving the hat fp Grin.

thisisyesterday · 21/04/2011 22:39

you give them hat. you give them pens/glue/glitter/stuff to stick on

you leave them to it Grin

TheSkiingGardener · 21/04/2011 22:41

That is one impressive bonnet.

And I don't say that often!

FannyPriceless · 21/04/2011 22:43

Ahhh, I see. So I was not obvious enough with the glitter egg component that DD 'helped' with. Will know for next time.

You have to understand that this was my first ever time sending a creation of any sort to nursery. And my only guidance was from reading MN threads like the fox hat, 12 apostles, etc, so I thought mine was pretty modest by comparison.

Ah dd2 had to do this for nursery. I left Dh supervising her while she hap hazzardly stuck multi coloured feathers and rabbit conffetti here, there and everywhere.

I came home from work to find a neatly co-ordinated, glittery easter bonnet. 3yo dd2 had even managed to very neatly trim the edge of the of the bonnet with different shades of glitter in a nice red, blue, yellow, red, blue, yellow pattern [buhmm]

Even the feathers were now in neat little pattern.

It's not just mums who do this. DH was most dissapointed when they all 'won' [bugrin]

EasterBunnyGirl · 21/04/2011 22:49

You should have won the prize for most creative parent!
That hat is amazing!
next year cut out some egg shapes let dd customise them stick them on too and then you'll win for sure! [buwink]

FannyPriceless · 21/04/2011 22:52

I have learned so much from this feedback! Who knew? Random gluing and haphazard stickers are my future.

Fanny - it's fabulous!!! Really wonderful. Amazing. Brilliant.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 22/04/2011 00:40

Smethy that is indeed one pissed of chicken Grin

CurrySpice · 22/04/2011 08:59

Ah this reminds me of the time dd2's nursery did fancy dress for trafalgar day.

Everyone else went simply dressed in red White and blue. Dd2 in full nelson regalia including gold braid and a very impressive hat

The nursery staff openly mocked me Hmm

Love the hat!!

FannyPriceless · 22/04/2011 09:15

Full Nelson regalia? Gold braid? Oh, the shame.

It's wonky, amateurish cardboard hats all the way for me now.

CurrySpice · 22/04/2011 13:38

Thanks Fanny. I see there is no solidarity amongst us comeptitive mothers :o

I didn't learn my lesson though, DD1 just won best costume for World Book Day. She went as Darryl Rivers from Mallory Towers, complete with real lacross stick (99p off ebay) Hmm

FannyPriceless · 22/04/2011 14:20

At least I have now learned my lesson and probably won't do it again.Wink
