I am sitting in the living room with my parents. My dad is the nosiest eater in the world. ( I call it scrumping - it is my own word that I applied to the noise as a kid).

He is scrumping crackers.

My mother has a vocal tic and keeps clearing her throat.

I am not a child. I should be able to take it.

I just can't any more.............ahhhhhhhhhh.................my poor ears!!!!

Please someone let me know the secret of patience.

That would drive me insane too!!! I am phobic of noisy eaters!!

Can you not leave the room... or just starve them Grin

Oh God, I feel your pain. Noisy eating/random noises are my pet hate. It turns me from a mild mannered woman to a raging, murderous thoughts, quivering lump.

MavisEnderby · 20/04/2011 21:59

LOL,are you my mum????She has really acute hearing and eating noises drive her insane, she also recently spent a good half hour on the phone highlighting my Dads annoying habits: "Theres the one he does when hes thinking when he picks his fingers, then theres the headscratch one he does when he doesn't agree with you....".Don't get me started on the Dad snoring saga!!Sorry not much help but you made me giggle!FWIW DM often has to leave the room in such circumsatnces!!!

My mum constantly sniffs and clears her throat even when she doesn't have a cold. And she makes a loud swallowing noise whenever she has a sip of any drink.
Drives me up the wall.
