All the threads at the moment seem to be about NOT celebrating the royal wedding, easter eggs are a waste of money, baby showers are for present grabbing self obsessed people.

  1. We have the royal wedding off (if you are lucky) so just embrace it and use it as an oppotunity to have fun with your loved ones, do sonmething different.
  2. Everyone loves chocolate, easter is just an opportunity to eat lots and not feel guilty 3)Baby showers are fun and an excuse to get together, presents can be a £ bib, dosent have to be a fancy do.

Sorry for the mini rant but times are hard and depressing - shouldn't we embrace opportunity for celebration and fun?

Did you mean Mumsnet, rather than Netmums?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 20/04/2011 10:10

No, not everyone loves chocolate. I don't like it. :)

Groovee · 20/04/2011 10:11

I'm on netmums too and I'm not a kill joy :-)

suwoo · 20/04/2011 10:11

I have no idea about netmums, I live here with the vipers.

I've never been on netmums, but surely you should be starting this thread over there?

BehindLockNumberNine · 20/04/2011 10:13

It is everyone ...... is a killjoy..... not everyone are killjoysWink

But other than that - am bah humbug about the wedding, but it is nice to have a day off.
Easter eggs are lovely - but horribly expensive
Babyshowers are an american idea and a bit yuck in my opinion. The idea of everyone gathering to shower me in presents is a bit embarrasing to me.

(Luckily I won't be having any more babies so need not worry]

Agree that we should have fun whenever we can. Some people posting seem to be killjoys. But others IMO seem to be people struggling financiallly who are fed up with assumptions that they can financially afford whatever is being asked for e.g. clothes instead of a cheap Easter egg or presents.

And although a present can be a £1 bib, it is difficult to give that kind of present at a social gathering when everyone else is giving much more expensive/nicer presents. Much easier to give a very small present privately.

It sounds as if you don't have too many worries about money, but lots of people do, especially at the moment.

BehindLockNumberNine · 20/04/2011 10:15

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 20/04/2011 10:27
  1. get the name right. - the clue is in the htp address at the top.
  1. Get a life, mind your own business and let people whinge about what they want to rather than whinging about other people's whinges.
ladymystikal · 20/04/2011 11:06

Does anyone else think that the OP is, even now, banging her head on the desk repeatedly, whilst wailing "Noooooooooo - Netmums, NETMUMS - what a mistake to make - am I ever going to be able to show my face on mumsnet again???"

caramelwaffle · 20/04/2011 11:44

Grin ^

Am Not purposely bumping this - oh, no.

Ginabraz · 20/04/2011 11:45

Some people make mistakes. Why be so harsh? I think most of the responses strengthen the OPs opinion.

Sadly there are a lot of miserable, whinging people around and this place is the perfect anonymous outlet for them all.

Be Happy!!

Bohica · 20/04/2011 11:46

I'm offended.

caramelwaffle · 20/04/2011 11:48

Gina - strengthens her opinion of who?

Netmums (of which she rants)

Or

Mumsnet (of which she doesn't)
