Smear Test problem

I went to the Doctor for a smear test last week and the doctor said she could not take a swab as my cervix is red and swollen and said I would have to have an appointment with the gynaecology dept at the local hospital. Since she tried to do the smear test which was really sore while she was trying to do it and she was not at all sympathetic to my pain, I now have terrible soreness like thrush type symptoms with a burning, really sore feeling which wasn't there before the doctor tried to do the smear. I am really worried about this and what might be wrong with my cervix.

is there another GP at your surgery you could go to see? I think you need to get this checked out.

A GUM clinic might be the place to go - they'll check everything and give you the smear test, and they are usually very peasant.

Your Dr. shouldn't have fobbed you off and left you worried, did she give you a referral to the hospital?

dont worry at all, am sure it may be just a mild infection/ thrush. find your local well woman center where they do this all the time and get yourself down there pronto before the long weekend starts!

Don't panic, its very unlikely to be anything that can't be treated in some way or an other and I speak from long experience as a panic merchant par excellance, especially where my lady bits are concerned.
You do need to get it checked it out though and I agree with EasterChick, if you can get to a GUM clinic that would be the best place to go.
They'll be able to have a look and in quite a few cases you can get a diagnosis and start treatment immediately.
Most clinics have emergency or walk in appointments, phone them and see if you can go to one of these today and put your mind at rest. If not they'll try to see you within the next few days.
