To now feel disgusted with my Moon

I watched last nights Watchdog and they featured the Indesit Moon washing machine.

Being a bit of a washing machine novice (the Moon is my first one, since leaving home) I thought it was normal to have to regularly scrub grime and mould out of the inside of the machine.

Last week I remarked to my DP, that the clothes stank of fox piss / weird rubber smell, after they had been washed and put them back in and washed them again.

I have a young child and another on the way and after seeing what the experts said on the show about the mould and that fact that you can't do a 90 degree wash on this machine, I feel really fucked off with Indesit that I have been mislead into buying this poxy machine. DP also watched the show and straight away said that we should buy another washing machine. MORE EXPENSE!!!

I thought this was going to be a thread about how you had showed your arse to the passing traffic and were now feeling ashamed of yourself....

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/04/2011 15:34

total hijack, but kungfu - that's what you should do to the woman who refuses to reverse up and let you pass Grin

ExitPursuedByALamb · 15/04/2011 15:34

And I thought it was about moon cups

CJ2010 · 15/04/2011 15:37

Oh sorry to disappoint, but I would def not keep sticking a mouldy moon cup up my fanjoo!

YABU. Who "remarks" these days?

IreneHeron · 15/04/2011 15:40

Ooh I saw that, so glad I've got a hotpoint! Today first thing I did was run a 95 degree wash with some non bio. I normally only do 30 degrees with non bio. I never knew how manky they could get. I also cleaned out the drawer with dettol just in case. YANBU, I'd be livid if I had a Moon.

itssnotfunny · 15/04/2011 15:44

am i supposed to? havent in oooo 15 years

TheMonster · 15/04/2011 15:46

CJ that's awful. They are really expensive machine as well. How long have you had it?

ShoutyHamster · 15/04/2011 16:11

Was expecting to hear a sorry tale of astrological promise which failed to materialise. Your washing machine sounds pants though!

oldraver · 15/04/2011 16:18

So what is the problem (as on Watchdog) ? I have a Hotpoint and its the first machine I have had that gets very mouldy in the drawer. I figured its to do with it being a cold fill

GingerWrath · 15/04/2011 16:26

I have a Moon too and thought maybe I just wasn't vigilant enough at cleaning it and our water is rubbish! (runs off to iPlayer to find Watchdog)

IreneHeron · 15/04/2011 16:27

Oldraver Moons don't have a 90+ wash so bacteria such as e-coli can build up and make the machine really slimy and make people ill. You can't kill the bacteria if you don't have a boil wash. There was also something about them not having a soap drawer too but I didn't quite why that was a problem.

GingerWrath · 15/04/2011 16:30

They don't have soap drawers because they are meant to be self cleaning.

CJ2010 · 15/04/2011 16:33

It does not self clean!!! I clean it!

GingerWrath · 15/04/2011 16:35

That's why I said 'meant' CJ! cause mine quite obviously doesn't either.

Oblomov · 15/04/2011 16:45

Agree with your dp. Get rid, asap. I said so ont he other thread aswell. Churns my stomach.

GingerWrath · 15/04/2011 16:48

Oblomov what other thread?

Oblomov · 15/04/2011 16:51

similar: watchdog

caramelwaffle · 15/04/2011 16:52

Oh. I thought this was going to be about the moon symbol on the Mumsnet pages. Phases of the moon etc

(hijack - kungfu - Do Not Moon road rage woman Grin)

GloriaSmut · 15/04/2011 17:32

I feel badly let down. I was somehow expecting something rather more pagan.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/04/2011 19:01

Oh please moon toad rage woman?

GingerWrath · 15/04/2011 19:09

I am getting rid of mine asap and getting a conventional machine after watching Watchdog...why should I have to bleach the door seal after each load?Angry

headfairy · 15/04/2011 19:11

didn't watchdog say indesit had offered compensation to customers who weren't happy?

GingerWrath · 15/04/2011 19:17

Maybe I need to complain then. I bought mine when we moved 250 miles and thought it was the water in the area, didn't realise it was a common problem!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/04/2011 19:27

Road Damn it! Not toad! Aggg
