Blanket for Edgar -> Blanket for Rindercella

purplerabbitofinle · 15/04/2011 10:17

I've reposted here as there's more traffic...

I am most of the way through making the woolly blanket for EdgarAleNPie and her family and have a LOT of extra squares, thanks to all the wonderful, kind people out there in MNCraftworld.

How do people feel about making a blanket for Rindercella and her familiy as well as the blanket for Edgar? I''m happy to do the work, and FrazzledBlob and I are meeting next week to do the border, so the infrastructure is mostly in place.

Opinions please...

What a lovely idea. Do you need more squares, and if so what size/color/thickness etc???

FAB5 · 15/04/2011 10:22

I think it is a great idea but totally the wrong topic.

caughtinanet · 15/04/2011 10:25

Yes, that sounds like a really lovely idea, I've been reading the threads from the posters who've been making the squares and it sounds like they've really been enjoying doing it.

ThisIsANiceCage · 15/04/2011 10:39

What a lovely idea - if it's something Rindercella would like, of course.

Have a Brew and a Biscuit for such a nice offer.

(Disclaimer: not a knitter, so my opinion not worth much.)

purplerabbitofinle · 15/04/2011 10:54

mrsjaja we've been using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK or Rowan Cashsoft DK in blue, lilac, pink, green colours. Squares need to be 6".

FAB5 yeah, I know, I'm being cheeky and getting loads of publicity very fast by putting it here Blush

PixieOnaLeaf has been co-ordinating the blanket for the Edgar family, so hopefully she'll continue with this one or pass the info on to the next person Smile

I would very much like to do something for Rinders and her family and let her know mners are thinking of her and her little girls. I'm happy to knit more squares or anything else people think is appropriate.

(Its KurriKurri btw)

LadyOfTheManor · 15/04/2011 11:26

If i am to do another quilt thennnn I'll need a LOAD more squares (quilting only) unless I make a cushion or something...?

FAB5 · 15/04/2011 11:40

I just meant that it might not be clicked on and yanbu clearly. Wasn't criticising you Blush.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 15/04/2011 11:54

That's a lovely idea, purple - and as I said on the other thread, I can get another ball of yarn and do some more squares if you need them - just let me know, so I can head off to John Lewis for some pleasurable browsing in their wool department (but don't tell dh - he thinks I have enough yarn already - apparently having filled up the little whicker drawer unit he brought me for christmas, and overflowed into a couple of other baskets, I now have enough yarn and should start actually knitting something with it!! Shock).

PrettyCandles · 15/04/2011 12:00

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about Rindercella, but am happy to help if she needs comfort, too.

GentleOtter · 15/04/2011 12:01

Happy to knit some more squares.

EasterChickAndRabbitKurri · 15/04/2011 12:07

PrettyCandles - I have PM'd you Smile

purplerabbitofinle · 15/04/2011 12:20

FAB5, no apology necessary. I know I'm in the wrong for posting in the wrong place, just decided to do it anyway cos i is a special case so lots of people could see it

More squares welcome!

For those who don't know, the outline (afaik) is that Rindercella's husband recently lost his battle with cancer, leaving her and her 3 young children. It seems only fair to make the effort with a blanket for her on the same level as EdgarAleNPie and family, and the infrastructure is already in place.

Sad that we should have to do two in such a short space of time. My condolences are with both families.

PS does anyone know Rindercella properly and could pop her a PM to ask if this is ok?

I think OnlyJoking does.

suzikettles · 15/04/2011 12:47

I think WhoMovedMyCheese might live near to her.

MmeSurvivedLent · 15/04/2011 12:47

Lovely idea.

I am hopeless with crafty stuff but would be happy to donate some funds to assist with postage or donate wool/needles etc.

purplerabbitofinle · 15/04/2011 13:43

Pixie will be sending PM's out this afternoon - if anyone who missed the Edgar stuff would like to jump aboard, you're more than welcome Smile

Mme, there's a paypal account set up already. So far it's been used to send stamped addressed envelopes to people to send their squares in, so I'd imagine it would appreciate a top up?

Pixie, could you match me up with a wool donor or donors, please? I'm about to go travelling for the rest of the holidays, will probably be offline, and likely not be able to get wool. But if any lands on my doorstep I can pick it up as I pass through and knit as I travel.

Though if the deadline is more than, say, a month away, I should be able to buy wool in time.

Thanks
PrettyCandles

PrettyCandles · 15/04/2011 15:44

Sorry. That was meant to be a PM.

Yes go on I'll do it. As long as it's ok to have a little 2 weeks to do Edgar's...can the envelopes be marked separately though?!

EasterChickAndRabbitKurri · 15/04/2011 19:47

Pixie - I've PM'd you Smile
