changed my name for this one -

since we have been together I have always known that if DH and I go out then I will be driving unless we have a taxi otherwise he has a 'face' on if I am having a drink and he is on shandy.

However; on Sunday we are going to Wembley to watch the FA cup semi final. Coach seats are booked etc and really looking forward to it (especially as DH and DC are obsessive huge fans of one of the teams).

However last night, I was trying to sort out a lift for all of us to where we are getting on the coach to be met with "what's up with the car?"; to which I replied that this meant that I wold have to drive home when we got back as we wouldn't be able to collect it the next day. He honestly thought that I would stay beer free all day just so I could drive home again at 11 o'clcok at night!

AIBU to think that I could also enjoy a drink on this trip out just like him? (and by a drink I don't mean that we are both going to be drunk, but enjoy a beer each before I get flammed...)

We have always had this argument too, and I am the one who always ends up driving. He thinks it is great at the moment because I am not drinking at all due to being on a health kick... grrrrr.

I would say get a taxi and leave the car at home. :)

No, YANBU. It's the way he assumed you would be driving. But if you're only having a couple, over a whole day, can't you drive? Or do you not drink anything if you're going to drive? It is a special occasion, I agree.

Paschaelina · 14/04/2011 08:28

Bugger that! I would tell him if he wants the car available to take you home from the coach then he can be alcohol free to drive it and if he doesn't like that then it's a taxi or walk.

horriblemotheragain - I agree that I am more p***ed off with the assumed part.

Although I will have one half and drive; if I drove to meet the coach park then it will be on my mind all day that I have to drive home so will not feel that I can enjoy the day, so I have already ordered a taxi (and he can bloody pay for it!)

If you are going to Wembley, I wouldnt worry about drinking too much anyway. Its so sodding expensive to drink the watered down beer, and the pubs around the area are usually too rammed to get served in!..

reallyfedupwithdh · 14/04/2011 08:36

was thinking more of the cool bag with a couple of bottles in....

also when we get back as we are going to/from a pub and should be back before last orders - to either celebrate or drown the sorrows
