"I hope you won't be one of those mothers who jiggle their babies on their knee. Don't become one of the baby-jigglers, if you can help yourself"

Colleague 1 to colleague 2 before going on mat leave.

I have seen the word "jiggle" many times on AIBU today so it popped into my head.

Can anyone enlighten me as to this great parenting divide I had not considered?

Thats funny, Smile

I always swayed. whether i was holding a baby or not. my youngest is now 4...i still sway Blush

Whenever I jiggled my DS always looked like he was gonna hurl!

He loved being lifted up and down while being held round the ribs tho Grin

But what the great parenting (?social) divide is I don't have a clue.

Wish I had the chance to jiggle DS. Whenever I picked him up he lunged for a boob like a miniature vampire Hmm

I'll enlighten you. Colleague 1 is a dangerous loon and you can safely ignore her stance on jiggling and pretty much everything else. HTH.

Jiggling drives me mad, I always want to shout out "JUST STOP MOVING for heavens sake"

I agree with colleague 1.

Innishvickillaune · 13/04/2011 19:46

Pigeon, I had a similar experience. There was limited jiggling and/or swaying.

You have to jiggle! It stops baby crying.

It's when you find yourself swaying without a baby in your arms that you have to worry. When I rock with the baby my mum seems to end up in a trance and rocks with me - that's most offputting!
