to not tidy up whilst unwell?

I've had a chest and sinus infection for three days, my DH is away on business, and the place is a mess. My DD's (4 and 11) are fed, washed, and i've managed the school runs. I'm getting better, but I still am recovering and I am finding it exhausting to tidy up! The washing up is all done, but no cleaning the fridge or hoovering for me...My 4 year old has watched TV after school, all afternoon, for 3 days. Is this unreasonable???!!!

Not at all! Hope you get better soon.

It depends, if you want to get better as rapidly as possible then yanbu, if you fancy struggling along exhausted for weeks then yabu.

Hope you feel better soon :)

YANBU - unless you have any asthmatics in the house, hoovering can be safely left for ages. If everyone is washed and fed, has something to wear, and there's food in the house, then you can put your feet up and focus on giving your system a chance to get on with getting better.

The 11 yo could tidy any mess which is reaching threatening heights!

Thanks everyone, just what I wanted to hear, and yes I did get DD1 to wash up! They were all ill last week, the 4 year old quite worryingly at times; now they are all well, but I'm washed out!! Ah, a mothers' life...so to avoid Post-Viral Fatigue later, I go with Viral Fatigue now huh? Trouble is, there'll be Soooooo much to do in about 3 days time. I think I need to go on a housework rant thread now!

Would it be possible for you to pay for a one-off cleaner to help clear the backlog?

Get well soon.

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 22:20

YADNBU OP!!

You need as much rest as possible. NO WAY should you feel a failure because of lousy housework. You'll get it done when you are better.

Get well soon.
