I realised last night after nearly 20 years together (nothing gets past me Hmm) that DH never washes his face at night. Teeth brushed, clothes off, into bed.

I don't exactly have a 25-step beauty regime either, or wear lots of makeup, but would feel, well, just wrong going to bed with a dirty face. Early days with new babies, and late nights out excepted, of course.

I can tell this is going to perplex me now I've noticed it. I'm not contemplating throwing him out, or anything(!), but AIBU to think it's a bit yucky? Should I buy him some products?

I dont know any people that wash their face before going to bed actually...

Bumpsadaisie · 09/04/2011 09:51

Not sure about this - my DH is much more into his face washes than I am (spends 20 mins in the supermarket choosing them, grrr!)

He is quite fastidious about personal grooming and when i tease him he says its cos he went to boarding school and anyone who was stinky/spotty got horribly teased...

TastesLikePanda · 09/04/2011 09:53

I never think about washing my face before bed - I do sometimes take my makeup off if I'm not too pissed. But I do have to wash my hands... what's that about?!

cybbo · 09/04/2011 09:55

My H doesnt wash his face either. He might rub a wet hand across his face occasionally. Perhaps they reckon it gets a wash when they shave? I'm talking more about the morning than night though

NosyRosie · 09/04/2011 09:55

Bloody hell I'm impressed if I remember to wash mine in the morning let alone at night Blush

givemushypeasachance · 09/04/2011 10:06

I don't wash my face before bed either - unless it's particularly grubby from cleaning chimneys/being down the mine or something. Why, should I? I don't particularly wash anything else before bed either - I shower first thing in the morning, and it all gets washed then.

If it helps I don't wear makeup - I can see why the slap-covered amongst us would need to freshen up before bed, but otherwise? Nah! Grin

I have only just starting doing this.

I love it though! Has been really great for my skin.

DHs skin is fine anyway thoug so I don't think I'll convert him

helendigestives · 09/04/2011 10:09

I never wash my face, and I'm female. I suppose it gets washed in the shower, but I don't actively wash it.

TattyDevine · 09/04/2011 10:19

MrDevine uses all my Dermologica.

Then if he gets a flakey nose he asks "can you recommend an exfoliant for this? Should I go for the alpha-hydroxy acid one or something granular?

Hmm
TattyDevine · 09/04/2011 10:19

And he took my skin smoothing cream on his business trip, leaving me without it for 4 days. Apparently he needed it for his shaving rash Hmm

lesley33 · 09/04/2011 10:22

I have never liked washing my face. Just hate the feel of splashing water on it. Since I discovered cleansing milk I am fine - I use that to clean my face. But if I was a bloke who didn't use stuff like that, I probably would only wash my face occasionally.

mousymouse · 09/04/2011 10:25

dh scrubs his face at night. if he doesn't he gets spotty.
I take my make up off at night and wash my face it makes my eyes itch if I don't do that.

Sarsaparilllla · 09/04/2011 10:46

If I take my make up off at night my face gets washed I guess, but I don't do that every day (v bad I know!) I tend to just wash off the makeup in the shower in the morning

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 09/04/2011 10:49

I don't use soap and water, but I have to clean my face every night.

DirtyBit · 09/04/2011 10:53

I wash my face in the shower every night.

DP washes his face over the sink in the morning and then in the shower at night.
