...dc's in bed....

me and dh in the living room watching a box set (we've seen before)

dp defers to me in all things (so I'm not complaining about him in general) but he does compulsively take over the remote control and then allows/or somehow 'causes' Hmm the voulme to creep up just when music/guns/booming bass scenes happen to......happen?

Usually then when (after 10 or 11 threats on my behalf with no follow-through) I finally demand the remote, he has somehow magically lost it? Recinded it to the God of the squashy cushion or some such thing!!

While I wrote this post he took the remote. But I got it back.

Do you struggle with remote wars in your house? Hmm

lol..I used to have this problem until I figured out how to disconnect the tv from the wires outside that lead to the house.

Every night after I'd put the kids to bed and he wanted to watch some crappy van damme film, I would go outside and unscrew the wire, then when he goes back to the computer I used to put it back in and watch what I wanted while he was engrossed in some game.

I have a secret remote control he knows nothing about, to keep the sound down.

mumcanIaskaquestion · 07/04/2011 20:23

Nope I have my tv and he has his.

Although I have been known to nick borrow his when I can't find mine when the DC have hid it.

Hassled · 07/04/2011 20:24

This is the worst bit about having a partner who works away all week. When he's home I flinch when he makes any attempt to hold the remote. I sit there smouldering with rage. It's my remote and I have complete control of it.

Buy one of those All-in-One remotes and hide it from him. You'll then be able to control the volume (in fact every option on the TV, SkyBox, DVD etc too) from your uber-remote while he scrabbles between his selection trying to work out what's going on Grin

goodbyemrschips · 07/04/2011 21:00

I even turn the tv down from another room if I can angle it right.....

mumblecrumble · 07/04/2011 21:10

Our remote lives on my chin.
