About 10 weeks ago, a new radiator was needed, in my dining room. The heating engineer and i struck up a bit of witty banter and i thought he might be a nice chap, until i heard his foul language during a mobile telephone call he had, with his friend. He completed the job, left and naturally i never heard from him again or expected to. He just rang my doorbell and wanted to say hi and said he always remembers nice Ladies. He also knew my name. I reminded him he told me he was married with 2 children. We shook hands and he left.

I'm feeling a bit scared he might break into my home..can't explain as to why neither!!

{although i was burgled whilst asleep upstairs once}

Tell me i'm being silly

This would creep me out, rather than flatter me. you paid him to do a job of work, not to make friends - really rather odd that he'd just call over now.

Most blokes, certainly in the building trade have a very strong language when talking to each other.

eh ??

My DH is in the "building trade" and is perfectly polite, rarely swears (within earshot, anyway) and would never creep a woman out like this

daft generalisation, and does not excuse this chancer at all

It's hardly flattering having some crude guy come to the house, clearly knowing you are a single mum, clearly forgetting he'd said he was married with children, obviously wondering whether you're up for a bit. Who the hell would be flattered by that?

And even those who use crude language often have the manners and forethought to just shut up when a female customer is listening. The fact he didn't speaks volumes.

atswimtwolengths - That is exactly how i see it too. Yuk!
