First one when since before I got pregnant with DS and before that I had one between falling pregnant with DD3, actually in the past few years I have probably had about 6 in total.

Got my perios this morning and ouch! No wonder I have been tired and emotional last few days, cramps and feeling sick are back as well. At least I had some tampons in the back of the cupboard not before I had soaked through my clothes though!

I bloody hate periods. As DS is my last baby (he's 11 months now) that's me doomed until the menopause now when I'll get doomed some more.

totally crap - ditch them. I have the contraceptive injection and never have periods (or other side effects at all). Dr says I can take it for ten years which I'm hoping will take me to the menopause (mum has early menopause in late 40's)

PoisoningPigeonsInThePark · 01/04/2011 13:59

Your not the only one- only had 4 in 6 years came till 6 months ago and I hate them - and we have definitely had the last baby as well .

sweetkitty · 01/04/2011 15:02

Contraceptive injection - might look into that but DP is definitely getting "done" as well, belt and braces kind of thing and it's about time he suffered a bit!

There are some advantages of being through the menopause - and this is one of them Grin

peanutbutterontoast · 01/04/2011 15:30

I agree I haven't had one since beginning of 2008 & only two since 2006 (fewer than 10 since 2000!) ... this is my last baby & I'm not looking forward to it all starting again (hopefully I've got another 18 months or so). Periods suck!

BitOfFun · 01/04/2011 15:39

Mirena coil is your friend.

IMissSleep · 01/04/2011 16:09

I got my first period 3 weeks after DS was born - even though I was BF!! Friends said - "you wont have a period till you stop BF, its great"

Well, they were bloody wrong! And yes, I agree they are shit!

sweetkitty · 01/04/2011 16:22

I got mine 5 weeks after DD1 was born. Around about 11 months to a year with the next 3, DD1 slept through from about 6 weeks old though none of the others did and I think it was the night feeds that stopped them coming back. DS has cut his feeds back now and I am sad.

Oh yeah, I had my first one since DS3 (9 months) last week. It was hideous. I hate periods. He's my last one too so looks like I am stuck with the horrendous PMT and heavy painful flow for another 15 years or so. Joy!

Frizzbonce · 01/04/2011 18:37

I've just got a Mooncup! No - alas they can't help with period pain but I wish I'd bought one years ago. No leaks, no drips and I don't know it's there. I LOVE IT.

peaky123 · 01/04/2011 18:45

waves excitedly to sweetkitty
How strange, we were on the same antenatal thread, and just got my period back today, first one for 19 months, and first non-pill one for ....too many years. soaked through my jeans.
Was just moaning that i had forgotten about the mess.

BOF have you got the mirena? Have been umming and ahhing over it for ages...

clairefromsteps · 01/04/2011 18:52

YANBU - I'm pg at the moment and no periods is definitely one of the biggest plusses! That and having a baby at the end, of course.

My periods started up again six (yes, six) weeks after giving birth last time to my twins. AND I was ebf'ing. Made me laugh actually - I just couldn't believe that my body thought it was ready to start making babies again.

whatsfordinnerthen · 01/04/2011 18:52

Mirena's are fab no periods no babies. You just don't have to think about it - great!

SlightlyB0nkers · 01/04/2011 19:09

Two years now without the curse and if it wasn't for TTC, I'd be jumping for joy. Def going to breastfeed the last kiddie until I'm 60, if Im lucky enough to have another.

Period pains suck. And the irrational rage I get a few days before...

colditz · 01/04/2011 19:10

I'm on cerazette, it's a minipill, and with it comes NO PERIODS!!!

springbokdoc · 01/04/2011 19:29

YANBU. Must admit the first time it happened after ds born I reverted back to pg mode and panicked for a split second. Went to that 'oh my god I'm bleeding something's wrong' place before reaslising that no wait I've had this before Blush

5ofus · 01/04/2011 19:35

Yay for hysterectomies. No more for me - ever!!

Same as colditz here with Cerazette. I've not really had any periods since I started taking it nearly 3 years ago. I've had the occasional show which would barely mark a panty liner. 'Tis fab as I have a 23 day cycle so I'm not missing them at all Grin .

Numberfour · 01/04/2011 19:53

I used to shake my head in despair when I heard of women taking a day or so off work because they started their period. Now, my heart sinks if I start on a day other than Saturday or Sunday.

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 01/04/2011 19:57

I'm so glad other people have mentioned 'soaking through the jeans'

I thought I was a freak of nature.

I hate hate hate them. I'd have DC 2 just to get a break!

sweetkitty · 01/04/2011 22:02

Glad I'm not the only one. I am still BFing so that sort of limits my options but once we have finished will definitely be looking at something long term and hopefully no periods.

Even if DP does get the snip there's no way I am going au natrel with periods again.

Apart from 3 months I have been pregnant or breastfeeding since November 2003!

Yanbu, been a long time for me too, not looking forward to their return, although at the moment I would rather have periods than be b-feeding all night, zzzzz
