Thought it would be nice for the DDs to go (and hopefully inspire them a bit).

But it will cost £30 a ticket (I'd need 3) plus £40 ish for gown hire.

Shock a bit fucking expensive non~?

I had my graduation before christmas and Mum and DH came to watch me graduate and then met in-laws and kids after for a family meal. Glad I didnt take the boys as it was quite long (over 2 hours) and must admit I was a bit bored!!!
Dont think mum would have forgiven me though if I had missed it x

I didn't go to either of mine. Though the idea of inspiring the youngsters is a good one.

Could you point out to someone at your place of education how expensive it is? Could they waive the ticket fee at least? That is well pricey for a day of hanging around in weird clothes.

Missed the important bit:

Congratulations! Well done!

YABU - graduation is the best day ever! I loved my first graduation and can't wait to go again this year!

YANBU about the cost of tickets though.

Bumperlicioso · 30/03/2011 22:34

Tis very boring, especially as mine was conducted both in Welsh and English! Didn't go to my MSc one. Splash out if it really important to you though.

MerylStrop · 30/03/2011 22:36

Didn't go to mine (in the 90s)

But I hate anything formal really

and is very pricey (as you can say if you first graduated in the 90s)

stealthcat · 30/03/2011 22:40

Depending on the age of your DDs and the number of people graduating they might struggle to tolerate it.
It does sound very expensive. I dont remember having to pay for tickets at all.

AtYourCervix · 30/03/2011 22:42

DDs 13 and nearly 15.
Didn't have to bloody pay for tickets last time. And i did a bit shitly this time.

still would have been a bit nice though.
