Are you a buyer or seller?

Into buy-it-now or autions?

atiat · 10/03/2011 20:20

I am A buyer, i go into the auction but sometimes i ask the seller to change it to buy it now, I now i got eveything at home, maybe more, but i just end up buying more and more.

I sold on it for 5 years and had it open and checking it over the day, much more than 4/5 times.

What is it about you're checking if it's not always an auction?

And what is it about the checking that bothers you?

Ebay is an amazing place if you don't spend more than you have to spare, I don't think you're necessarily addicted unless it's causing a problem in your life or you're constantly thinking about it.

Have you tried just not opening up the Ebay tab when you go on your computer?

atiat · 10/03/2011 20:30

thats the first things cames to my head, and thats the things that let me go to the computer all the time, i search on everything, clothes, bags, tvs, children clothes, shoes, everything....., i cook , i clean, my son got everything and my attention is well, but i find myself on ebay.

Blimey, I was going to start exactly this thread the other day.

I don't know what it is I'm looking for, but keep stumbling across other stuff on the way.

atiat · 10/03/2011 20:38

It can be exciting seeing what you can buy, and like MN is escapism from what can be a mundane day.

If it's not too intrusive to ask, do you buy more than you can afford?

atiat · 10/03/2011 20:46

oh, no, i can afford what i am buy it, but its not need just extrat staff, exple: i start swimming this saturday, i have the swimming suit, and my son too, but i bought, a flip flop to walk with, new swimming suit for my son, I am looking for a bag for that, even i got a bag that i take to the park, rubber shoes for my son, swimming watch for me, and...........
like that i am waiting for something new in my life to go and check ebay for the need,

I've only just gone back this week to my account after 5 years of no Paypal (or money)
So far this week I've bought; jacket, boots, watch and monopoly for DS, jeans, skirt and boots for self. In my head I've spent about £50, mostly postage I reckon.

Oblomov · 10/03/2011 20:51

Try selling, OP. The buzz is even better.
Have 1000 feedbacks. buys 800. sells 200.
We sell cars, clothes, old mobiles for £60 e.g. bunkbeds etc.
If you think buying is fab, wait for the thrill of selling.
Root around for some stuff to sell. Buzz. And then keep your money in the paypal account., and promise yourself you can only buy from this pot. Thus limiting yourself. Simples.

fifi25 · 10/03/2011 20:51

I was addicted to ebay but now its Amazon Smile

julybutterfly · 10/03/2011 20:53

If you pay with PayPal it's not real money right? Grin

theglove · 10/03/2011 20:53

Atiat, do you do 'normal' shopping too? Lots of people buy without need, Ebay is just an easier way and feels a bit lazier because you're at home.

atiat · 10/03/2011 20:53

if i mention what i bought just this week, oh believe me its a lot, 2 swimming pant for my son, swimming suit for my son, 3 rubber sheos, as the first ones wasnt his size, swimming floating board, watch for swimming, flip flop, swimming bag, hands band, 3 of 4 tops, 2 vetch consoles, books and........just this week, and I am not rich but i look for bargains.

OP posts:
atiat · 10/03/2011 20:56

no really, i control myself out, i dont spend buy as in ebay, i like to control the money (as we dont have a lot), so i choose ebay as the best place to get bargain, but now i notice that i am too much any small thing I am buy it????

Weeeell, I was "addicted" to buying (and selling) on eBay until I made a New Year's Resolution to be better.

I've been a lot better since....but now I spend all my time on Mumsnet instead!

Not sure if it's cheaper, what with all the Style & Beauty recommendations I keep having to buy. Wink

Before eBay I was a compulsive Facebooker. Blush

Seriously, find another website that you can check as frequently that won't cost you. Mumsnet is a good start.

atiat · 10/03/2011 20:59

thats true maybe because i am not giving the money directly, i am thinking as i its free, just buy, no problem.

OP posts:
atiat · 10/03/2011 21:01

i will try this, maybe thats a good idea (mrsbloomingtroll) i will stick to mumsnet and see, it will be hard not to check ebay, but.......

My open browser windows allways consist of MN and eBay. The sign in page is my home page when I open my browser.
