I've put on a bit of weight over winter. I am usually a size 12....I struggle with my stomach as have had 2 c sections and it's weak. I have had virus after vius ovr winter and a only just eeling better....I am now a size 14 and my stomach is swollen with water retention...looks fat. I hate being like this as before having DC I as a size 8 to
10.

But I am okwith a size 12....I'm 38 and probably need to work out more...all I do is walk.

Anyway...DH was hugging me....he was feelng my stomach and said "Are you sure you're not pregnant?"

And I was like ...no....It's water retention...I hate him touching me there as its sensitive afer 2 sections and I old him to get off...feeling self consious.

Anyway...he was getting ready to go out and hesaid "I like you with extra padding it' sexy"

And I said "Am I fat?" and he said "A bit....a bit porky"

I was SO upset. I had anorexia as a teenager and it took till mymid twenties o gt over it..I was very very thin....and I still struggle alittle with myself..but I can at least eat now....in public and so on...but now I am so upset he called me fat.

I'm 5 6" and size 14....it's not that I am FaT....I see that...I have extra weight and a weak stomach...so it looks flabby.

I am SO mad at him and myself.

Sad

leap to make , sorry.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/03/2011 17:43

he meant well and tbh men cant win with weight and woman

you yourself said you have put weigh on - would you have prefered he lied?

but the main thing is that he thinks you are sexy - maybe you were too slim before?

dont give him a hard time x

AgentZigzag · 02/03/2011 17:46

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear, I was replying to activate saying the OP should realise she's being loved cloudydays, not saying her DH didn't love her.

privategodfrey · 02/03/2011 17:46

Don't ask a question if you don't want an honest answer.

He obviously loves you and still fancies you or he wouldn't have called you sexy. Clearly he prefers you with some extra weight rather than a size 8/10/12.

JeremyVile · 02/03/2011 17:48

If i come back as a man....please please please can i be gay?

TrillianAstra · 02/03/2011 17:51

He gave you a hug and called you sexy - that is being nice to you. :)

saffy85 · 02/03/2011 17:52

He was probably trying to be nice but went about it in a very hamfisted way. It's not exclusive to men either- I'm notorious for blundering on and making an arse of myself despite the little voice in my head telling me to shut the fuck up already.

FWIW my DP dropped a brilliant clanger one day when I was bemoaning my buddha belly by pointing out ever so helpfully that "you weren't exactly a stick insect when I first met ya babe". Hmm thanks a bundle. He still squirms and grovels when I bring it up (for mine and others amusement) 5 years later. Grin

Men, they just haven't got a clue sometimes have they!

cloudydays · 02/03/2011 18:45

Ah sorry AZ, I missed that you were referring to a different reply. My mistake.

springbokdoc · 02/03/2011 20:44

Oh I think he was trying to be nice but kind of stumbled. Fwiw, my dh once said that he loved my little 'tiger stripes'. was really embarrased when I pointed out that was my stretch marks...

Rev084 · 02/03/2011 23:55

Sounds like he likes it! I understand though, we women are too sensitive when it comes to weight, either positive or negative comments can get us thinking.

Maybe he thinks its cute, if its a departure from your normal size. He's probably just enjoying it while it lasts.

If its any consolation, my OH said my legs looked akin to bread swollen up in water, when I was pregnant with my DD. He didn't think I'd take offence, like its a perfectly acceptable thing to say.

worraliberty · 02/03/2011 23:57

He's tactless but he thinks you're sexy and I have no doubt he means it!
