To wonder why you wouldn't sell the display model?

Trivial, but it does annoy me...

Went into clothes shop y'day to ask about dress in window.

Owner says, brusquely, is last one in that colour and I can't try it because she's not redoing the (v basic) window till next week. I may try the dress in a different colour and put a deposit down and come back later, though.

So I said no thanks and walked out - was a £30 dress FFS, why not put the model in the window in a different one?

AIBU to find it incredibly annoying when someone refuses to sell the last one because then there'd be none left?

yanbu

worked in retail for years and if a customer wants to buy something, then ffs sell it to them!

our local b and q ia awful for this.

THat's not the norm in my experience. I used to sell the ex display ones all the time - if there were no others in that size around.
