to HATE my baby

... pulling my hair and clawing at my face and screaming when he's trying to get himself off to sleep. It drives me absolutely up the bloody wall! Does anyone else's baby do this?

Worn out ( thank god he's finally snoring)

Mine does too :(

Also peacefully snoozing next to me on the settee while I see to my wounds

woollyideas · 01/03/2011 18:01

Mine used to pick at the mole on my arm in a very irritating way when she was nodding off!

worraliberty · 01/03/2011 18:02

I hate the thread title Sad

But YABU anyway

MerryMarigold · 01/03/2011 18:03

How old is the baby? YANBU for hating that, but YABU for putting up with it! Put him in his cot and let him go to sleep there. If he needs you, sit near the cot and reassure him you're there, but don't let him do that to you.

TheArmadillo · 01/03/2011 18:03

mine does it when she gets excited as well or when she's bored. More screeching than screaming though unless its bedtime.

She hangs off dh's beard
Pulls my earrings out (have lost loads due to this)

SHe also likes smacking us in the face with rattles.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 01/03/2011 18:04

Worral , I came on ready to moan about it! Luckily the actual whole OP of the thread is something I can relate to

GwendolineMaryLacey · 01/03/2011 18:04

Be thankful, my 3yo does this. She actually can't sleep unless she's scratching the freckles off my arm Hmm

JeremyVile · 01/03/2011 18:04

yanbu but why the stupid, deliberately crappy title?

This isn't Take A Break.

jaffacake79 · 01/03/2011 18:07

A baby I can kind of understand but 3 years old?! You have to be kidding me.

You don't hate the baby, you hate the behaviour.
It depends on how old they are too as to what you do, but learning to go to sleep themselves is an important skill!

beanlet · 01/03/2011 18:07

You're probably right Merry, but during the day it's the only way he can get himself off. He settles himself without any fuss at all over night.

Obviously I don't hate him - I love my son! But these jags are so exhausting, and otherwise he doesn't sleep at all in the day.

Yeah ds yanks my hair and then screams at me when I manage to prise it out of his fist. Hate him doing that.

And kicking me in the bladder all night, wish I hadn't started co-sleeping some nights. Kinda had my fill of that in pregnancy!

beanlet · 01/03/2011 18:09

Mea maxima culpa for the crappy title - I was still totally wound up. Feel much calmer now.

OP posts:
beanlet · 01/03/2011 18:10

Sorry - he's 7 months

There must be something else he'll do to go to sleep in the day, but it may take some time to establish. We all have our quirks I suppose like I let my kids sleep in my bed when they can't settle themselves at night. But I don't hate them for it. If I start feeling like that then I try and do something to change the behaviour because it can create resentment which you then take out on them in other ways (not intentional), like shouting or getting irritable about something else quite small.

MotherNight · 01/03/2011 18:21

I don't hate my ds, even when he's kicking me in the bladder! People on this thread are just having a moan aren't they?
