They are eating all the bird food and chasing away my dear little finchy type birds.

they are nice fat wood pigeons about the size of a small goose and look quite tasty.

it's bird discrimination i know, why should a small pretty birdy be more entitled to the lovingly mixed bread/seeds/worms than a big fat bastard? But I can't help it. I'm prejudiced.

We have two wood pigeons and last year two of their babies fell out of the nest. They were found by one of my chickens and luckily she is the maternal type - so she called my attention to them. We put them in a box and syringe fed them - but left the box on the floor for the mum. One died but the other, who we called Genghis not only thrived but now comes back to our garden. So now we have three! Plus two ring-collared doves.

Solution? We have two bird tables. The main one for bigger birds and a smaller one hidden in the bushes. Harmony.

Grimma - perhaps she could combine the two, and supersoak the pigeons? That would deter them from the birdfood in a more friendly and non-lethal fashion.
