As far as I can see, bisto granules is the most cheaty way to make gravy. (correct me if I'm wrong!)

I think there is three tiers to gravy making. Granules is at the bottom, bisto powder is in the middle, used to thicken up thin gravy/juices, and proper gravy is made using juices from meat and flour etc.

So in what way is bisto 'proper geavy'?! The only way to get less proper is to have no gravy at all!!!

...Rant over.

In no way is it 'proper gravy'.
YANBU

Ithink it tastes great and beats any other "proper" gravey I have tasted.

Butternutsquash22 · 08/02/2011 14:53

I'm not denying that it tastes good, have it in my cupboard and use it most of the time instead of the more hassely to make gravy, but that still doesn't make it proper gravy.

Hmm, well I can't really say YANBU or YABU on this one. Everyone has their personal tastes, I've tasted non-veggy, vegetarian and vegan gravy. I prefer the vegetarian and vegan ones myself, being vegan for four years and now vegetarian due to being pregnant, but that's off topic.

The vegetarian and non-veggy gravy I'm referring to is homemade, and I prefer the vegetarian one out of those two. The vegan gravy I'm referring to is bisto. Although I do prefer homemade, as a vegan bisto is just as satisfying.

YABU.

It is an advert.

However, you are correct that it is not proper gravy even though it is yummy.

LaWeaselMys · 08/02/2011 15:05

The advert is pretty darn cute though.

And bisto is very handy if you're not having a roast.

MrSpoc · 08/02/2011 15:09

Proper gravey is what you prefer to put on your chips, sausages, sunday roast. You cant beat bisto and I think this is the true gravey.

Arhhh Bisto

bubblewrapped · 08/02/2011 15:10

I use bisto to thicken up meat juices.. so IMO it is real gravy then. If you just make it with water out of the kettle it really isnt as nice.
