than the freebie diy ones?
Are they any good?

I have a mind set that they could never be as good?

Meaning ones you pay to have created or ones that you have to pay to view?

hoovercraft · 29/01/2011 13:31

Depends on what you want. If you just want a basic site, no fancy Java or Flash, you can create on yourself just as good as an expert can.

Of course, an expert, such as myself, has more experience with what looks good on the web. Grin

I had my free DIY work website mystery shopped by an independent market research company who marked it excellent in all areas, better than some other companies that were done at the sametime who had spent more than £10,000 on web developers etc.

What type did you use lizcat?

I had a free website but have now paid for one through Web Healer to prmote my counselling business. They specialise in therapy sites and aren't very expensive at all. I had to do quite a lot of the work myself but had loads of friendly advice and help and after only a few weeks I'm prominent on Google. I couldn't be more satisfied.

If the "expert" is going to put Flash on your site for no really good reason (which I reckon is the case for at least 80% of sites with Flash), then IMHO you can make a better site yourself.

Snerk. I actually agree with you, notinbed. But I do what the clients want!
