Why has search been switched off?

I think its fairly obvious given the focus of attention on a particular mumsnetter.

I'm sure there are certain "newcomers" who have only come on here for a nose around rather than to make positive contribution.

It only seems to be part of search that isnt working. I have just used it to find something i was looking for. Perhaps it is what you are searching that is the problem?

Oi HQ i had an old thread i was trying to look up. Good advice lurking there too. Sod's law dictates I will have forgotten what i wanted to find by the time this is 100% again.

Chaz I'm sure that can't be the reason, search has been working this evening, up until now. Stable door horse bolted springs to mind if that's the real reason. And why would MNHQ have the story on their home page saying: read Riven's story here with links if that's the case?
