My first ever biscuit.

I see this phrase on MN quite a lot. Actually almost every biscuit seems to have this phrase preceding it.

AIBU to think that there couldn't possibly be this many first time biscuits on any given day and that a few mumsnetters must be lying about still having their Biscuit Cherry?

Also why the need to announce it as your first? Does that make it better? An unsullied biscuit? As opposed to say, a soggy bicuit

Whats the bear all about? Has it some deep meaning I am missing?

researchinmotion · 20/01/2011 17:52

I thought the biscuit was for a no comment. But I now think it is a way of saying yeah right, ok whatever. Am I right?

NorthernGobshite · 20/01/2011 17:57

The biscuit is for no comment isn't it?
Whats the damn bear for!!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 20/01/2011 17:58

I have never posted a biscuit.

1 - it's rude
2 - it's a waste of a biscuit

Ajax2000 · 20/01/2011 18:04

Crackers.

TheEvilDead2 · 20/01/2011 18:07

The bear is to do with the Pom Bear thread.. I didn't think it was al that funny but everyone else on mumsnet did apparently.

I am officially lost now. What does it mean?

GMajor7 · 20/01/2011 18:15

The Pom Bear came from a not all that funny thread about a dinner party at which the OPs H offered out said snack. I'm sure there'll be a link somewhere....

It's basically 'chill out'...a sort of ice breaker I suppose.

2blessed2bstressed · 20/01/2011 18:15

Have never posted a biscuit....so far it has never quite encapsulated exactly what I wanted to say

GMajor7 · 20/01/2011 18:19

Pom Bear thread

I will warn you that it is rather long and not actually funny.

CuppaTeaJanice · 20/01/2011 18:24

Biscuits always seem to be posted in pairs.

BiscuitBiscuit

Like boobs.

GrimmaTheNome · 20/01/2011 18:24

Yes the biscuit is 'no comment', it says so in the help by the posting box:
For a no comment face,Biscuit , type [ biscuit ]

My interpretation of pombear is when something is a bit bonkers but in a good way.

Biscuits always seem to be posted in pairs.

Except for Eccentrica Gallumbits who of course needs:

Am I the only one who was thinking,"oh my goodness. OP has never had a biscuit! Wonder what her first one was?...custard cream, ginger nut....."
I really need to get with the lingo...Blush

Porcelain · 20/01/2011 18:43

I've never biscuited, come close, but I'm saving it for a special occasion.

Arion · 21/01/2011 16:47

Never posted a biscuit, thought it was something to do with being 'flamed' (I expected a flame emoticon when I first started lurking following Mumsnet threads) Grin

Arion · 21/01/2011 16:49

That was my first strike through though! Wish I could do that in texts!

deemented · 21/01/2011 16:52

I so wanted to Biscuit Bryan Kirkwood today, but didn't.

Actually, i lie. I really wanted to tell him to fuck the fuck off.

I didn't do that either.

Was tempted though.

Very tempted.
