To expect friends to keep their commitments?

Im quite young and have a baby so not all my friends my age do. They are at uni, clubbing, doing part time jobs etc.

I usually meet with them separately at least once a week and quite often one of them will cancel or be really late so its pointless even meeting up.
The friend with a baby is completely understandable, I know its hard getting out with a baby.

Saying that though, Im never late, I hate being late its just not in my nature, Ive always been a good time keeper.

AIBU that the friends who dont have a baby, have no commitment other than seeing me should stick to that plan?

YANBU to expect people to keep to their commitments, if they say they will do something they should stick to it. If they don't, what they are saying is that your time is less important than theirs or they can't be bothered to make the effort for your friendship - which is just out-and-out rude.

Where I think you may be a tad unreasonable (just a smidgeon) is making excuses for your friend with the baby. If your other friends see her letting you down and you not calling her on it, they may think you are just not that bothered by people being late. It doesn't matter if you have a baby, are studying for an exam, working a stressful job - if you commit to something you really should stick to it barring unforeseen circumstances (missing the bus coz you spent an extra 10 mins in bed is not unforeseen!!)

sweetkate I wouldnt really say they are rubbish Hmm they are just bad at time keeping and it gets on my nerves. They are great apart from that!

northerngirl you're right, I shouldnt make excuses for the friend with the baby, as I said I have one and I get there on time. In fact Im seeing her tmorrow and she tried to cancel today and when I sounded annoyed she magically was free again!
