I work shifts. Dh took a job working shifts inc the possibility of nights/late shifts.

I warned him that I may have to leave my job (I only work p/t) as we have to small children who need stability and bedtime routines. Not to mention the fact that it's always my family left to do 90% of the babysitting.

He was not at all happy and basically turned into prize twat of the year, telling me I didn't want to work, I have never wanted to work, I am a lazy bitch. I have worked pretty much all the time since I was 15. But that is not what the AIBU is about. I know IANBU on that score.

He has managed to get away with it until now. I am at work tonight and he has been asked to work overtime (until 10pm).

He is in a raging mood that I won't pester my family to look after our children until 10:30pm tonight (from 11am). Now my Gran is almost 70 and normally goes out on a Tuesday night, my sister is heavily pregnant. My other sister works on a Tuesday night, my mum has to get up for work at 5:45am on Wed morning.

We need 'the cowie' apparently. WTF is 'cowie'???? And why should I expect my family to drop everything? Not to mention the fact the girls are back at school on Thurs and I want them back into routine.

He is be TOTALLY unreasonable.

No idea what a 'cowie' is?!?

Your kids are your responsibility and that certainly includes him not just you.

He needs a huge slap.

But the job thing is always going to be hard, something has to give.

Can you afford to leave your job, or get a job that does not mean late shifts?

He is being totally unreasonable, but arguing about it won't get you very far as it won't change the situation.

You cannot both have jobs that require night/late shifts.

Presumably he is working longer hours and earning more? Why did he take the job?

I need to know what 'the cowie' is too? Hmm
