A couple of days ago I ordered a wedding ring online from them, using a creditcard, with over £2000 available on it the ring was £350. Two days later I got an email from them saying my card was not authorised - thought that was very strange, checked online and there was exactly double the amount of the ring missing from my balance. So called the creditcard company and they confirmed that the company had frozen the amount for the ring twice on my card, and that the card had not been declined.
Have now contacted the company and they keep insisting there is nothing they can do and they have not frozen the money, I am getting so frustrated as now I have no ring, and am missing £700, and the wedding is next week.

The credit card company can sort this out easily. You need to get stroppy with them.

nocake · 15/12/2010 11:35

The company may have attempted to put the amount through and a problem with their system means it failed but not until the amount had ben frozen. Raise hell with the credit card company and demand that it gets sorted out.

shinybaubles · 15/12/2010 11:43

Thanks everyone, will call the credit card company again - I am very cross as I saved for ages so I could order the ring .
I was very polite to the company etc saying I know that mistakes happen etc - and they were quite abrupt and rude about it implying I didn't have the funds for it.

IAmReallyFabNow · 15/12/2010 11:44

Credit card needs to sort it out and then you need to go somewhere else for your ring.

shinybaubles · 15/12/2010 12:29

Thanks all have called the creditcard compnay who can't do anything as the money has been ring fenced/frozen not taken. So we called the company back who were supremely rude to dp, and totally unhelpful - and insisted they had done nothing, and could do nothing, and would do nothing and basically told him to f* off. Charming AngrySad . All they have to do is click on their system or make a phone call - I know we also have a merchant account - liars that they are.
They have taken double the amount and I need a ring for next week. They can hold this money for up to two weeks.

Name and shame the company.

I also think the credit card company is taking the piss.

Bypass the idiots you spoke to at the store and ask for whoever is in charge.

shinybaubles · 15/12/2010 12:38

Thanks scurry but we did speak to the manager person at the company - so we can go no higher Sad Angry

Utterly shocking 'serivce'. Hope they go bust.

GandalfyCarawak · 15/12/2010 12:43

Clogau?! Really? Angry
On behalf of all Welshmen, I apologize.

scurryfunge · 15/12/2010 12:46

[email protected]

Was is Ben Roberts you spoke to?

AuntiePickleBottom · 15/12/2010 12:50

i been looking on that site, don't think i will be ordering from it now.

shinybaubles · 15/12/2010 12:51

Gandalfy yes my mum was Welsh and I was trying to incorporate her into the day since she is no longer here. that backfired.

scurry not sure dp has a note of the names he spoke to but he has gone back to work in a very bad mood. I will certainly make a note of the email address thankyou, and ask dp again when he has calmed down.

Now I have to find a new ring by Tuesday - well dp wasn't too keen on that ring in the first place maybe he was right.

shinybaubles · 15/12/2010 12:53

And - sorry I am ranting now - but they are lying the transactions were on two different days.

JodiesMummy · 15/12/2010 12:55

Shocking! Get a cheapy ring until you can sort this one out - you could have your mums initials engraved on it for twenty quid.

Then take this company to the cleaners after the wedding!

ThwopGoesTheMooncup · 15/12/2010 12:56

Good grief. I have ordered from them before and they were fine, but that is dreadful. You have a cooling off period for online orders I think?? So cancel it and demand an immediate refund. I'm sure this is within your rights.

GeneHuntsMistress · 15/12/2010 13:01

forget the company and just go through the credit card - they are responsible for claiming the fraudulent "ring fenced" monies from the company, not you. Your contract is with the credit card people, dont waste anymore time with these "jewellers" (shysters more like) and dont take no for an answer from the credit card company - they are shirking their legal responsibilities.

shinybaubles · 15/12/2010 13:07

Thwop I can't as they are claiming there is no order because the card wasn't authorised (not true) - so I have nothing to cancel and am stuck in limbo.

OP posts:
racmac · 15/12/2010 13:51

how crap - i would send a n email telling them exactly what they have done and what you expect them to do immediately - also send a letter recorded delivery and copy into the credit card company.

shinybaubles · 15/12/2010 13:53

Thanks everyone I have sent them a strongly worded email - yet still polite, and hopefully that will do something. I can't believe I have no ring and am out double the money less than a week before the wedding, and ds's first birthday and Christmas - it is really not the time to be missing money.

comewhinewithme · 15/12/2010 13:58

Do they have Twitter? Last time a company treated a Mner like crap we all retweeted an arsey tweet and tweeted the company to complain.
They soon sorted it out.

TottWriter · 15/12/2010 14:01

Haveto told them straight that you can see the transactions and therefore know that they are lying? Offered to printthem out a copy (with sensitive numbers obscured of course) so they can see for themselves? what lying scumbags, I am so Angry on your behalf.
