That money saved by cutting benefits should be used to keep public sector 'workers' in their cushy jobs?

The interesting this about the OP (which was clearly a troll) is the use of inverted commas around "workers".

There has been, for several years now, an astroturfing campaign ongoing, as far as I can see, to present the idea that it is a waste for public money to be spent on wages.

It's utterly nonsensical, because necessarily most of expense of public services is in the paying the wages of the people who provide them.

The argument made above is really a way of putting into stupid people's heads (and there will have been thick people who read this thread and didn't respond) that we'd all be better off if the government didn't steal our wages to waste on pointless make-work schemes for teachers and doctors and binmen.

Because all of those things could be provided better by the private sector and then we'd all have CHOICE.

Yes what a great idea. Let's lay off all the public sector workers in their "cushy" jobs.Hmm

And where will they go, OP? And what will they be doing?

As well as those public sector workers who are in the emergency services, health services, environmental services, council services, and therefore providing essential services, I would still like to see public sector workers in "nonjobs" paying tax & NI and NOT claiming benefits.

Keynesian economics - it is better to pay 2 blokes, one to dig a hole and one to fill a hole, than 2 have them both on the dole,

STEP AWAY FROM THE DAILY MAIL!!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/12/2010 08:29

BTW - it could be 2 women of course in the hole digging exercise!

Harpies indeed, still no comment on your current position in life to make comments like you have though eh?

Thought not, better to make generalising sweeping statements gleaned from the pages of the DM and run away happy in the knowledge that you have caused outrage amongst MN....

Do fuck off, theres a love....failing that why don't you just pm LFN?

OP I take it by "harpies" you mean "EVERYONE ELSE ON THIS THREAD!!!!"? You're on your own love. Very, very lonely.
