to be dreading this night out?

A friend of mine has recently had a birthday and has planned a night out soon.

It is in a social club with a comedian who is apparently very funny with the sort of humour that takes the mick out of people by publically dragging them on stage and taking the mick (or something along those lines).

This is sooooo not my sort of thing. I'm not a big fan of comedians anyway and this sort are just really irritating, the sort that don't leave you alone and will pick on you more if it looks like you are not enjoying it. He also likes to get the whole room 'involved'.

AIBU to be absolutely dreading this night out? I don't feel I can say no as it is my friends celebration and it is what she wants to do but it just isn't mine (or DH's) sort of thing. Other friends are not looking forward to it either.

I really feel you have two choices here, and that is to go and make the best of it, or dont go.

Either is fine. Going and being miserable isn't ideal so the other two options are what you are going to have to consider I'm afraid!

YANBU and of course you can say no. If I were you I'd say that it wasn't my thing and offer to meet with/take the friend somewhere on another date instead. If you don't feel comfortable saying that, just tell her that you have another appointment or feign illness on the night.
