turkey dinosaurs (PT)

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 02/11/2010 21:44

Pardon?

sethstarkaddersmum · 02/11/2010 21:44

yes and you have to NOT SAY 'ooh look a wnaky basket'. A very serious friend of mine brought one out and I knew that if I said 'wnaky basket' she would never trust me ever again.

Doodlez · 02/11/2010 21:45

YANBU

You and yours caused this very same thing about a month ago - was explaining donors and donor cards to DS aged 9 - was thinking of Pink Peter!

misdee · 02/11/2010 21:46

i have to bite my tongue everytime. Blush

OP posts:
SoMuchToBats · 02/11/2010 21:46

YANBU - I would never have had them before MN. My (only) ds is now too old for wnaky baskets, but if I saw one, I too would think "wnaky basket".

misdee · 02/11/2010 21:46

Doodlez, tell everyone about Pink Peter Grin

what the fuckinghell is a wnaky basket and hieristic play? i feel i've missed something major from my children's development

LittleMissHissingFirecracker · 02/11/2010 21:50
Confused

Have I got this to look forward to? Or is this something I have missed?

Confused
SoMuchToBats · 02/11/2010 21:51

I think it's heuristic play

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/11/2010 21:51

Is it supposed to be "wanky basket"?

misdee · 02/11/2010 21:53

think you somuchtobats, i knew i had it wrong.

'wnaky' baskets are baskets filled with natural/non plastic toy things for kiddies to play with an explore. the ones at the children centre have things like utensil in which dd4 likes to hit me with. but generally everyday household (non-harmful) objects can go in them.

they are obviously not actually called wnaky baskets but got renamed on here years ago.

OP posts:
GallumDrawnAndQuartered · 02/11/2010 21:55

heuristic play? what a load of utter bollocks (i googled). so you put child and basken (wnaky) and leave them to it? is that not normal parenting? why does it havesuch a wnaky name? bollocks.

LittleMissHissingFirecracker · 02/11/2010 21:57

Ohh, nods knowingly

wanders off, none the wiser.

GallumDrawnAndQuartered · 02/11/2010 21:59

i wrote 4000 words about heuristic phenomenology this moring and i still can't remember what it means.

like i said. a wnaky term for the bollcks people do without thinking about it.

misdee · 02/11/2010 22:02

i think the actual term is treasure baskets.

but dd4 just like to shove all her 'treasures' into an old brownies bag. atm it has her fave book, some little spinning tops, a rubber, and a pencil in it.

OP posts:
CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/11/2010 22:03

It's finally dawning on me that perhaps we are not allowed to use the word "wanky" on MN? Ridiculous if true....

but maybe I just have rude-word dyslexia.....

GallumDrawnAndQuartered · 02/11/2010 22:05

yes. you can't say wank but you can say cunt

misdee · 02/11/2010 22:05

nah i use wanky all the time. but it was this misspelled phrased that came about and stuck.

did an advanced search on wnaky baskets and loads came up, so its not just me lol.

i sometimes feel like whispering wnaky baskets at the childrens centre to see for any knowing reactions lol.

OP posts:
HabbiBOOOO · 02/11/2010 22:07

Nah, Curly, just s typo that became commonly adopted. I even pronounce it wuh - naky in my head.

HowToShoutSoHusbandsWillListen · 02/11/2010 22:10

You have to avoid chanting "don't say wnaky, don't say wnaky" out loud though.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 02/11/2010 22:13

Well! You live and learn..... You may as well have just told me that there really is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow....

misdee · 02/11/2010 22:14

there ISN'T a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? nooooooooooooooo!

OP posts:
BrownPaperBagOnMyHead · 02/11/2010 22:16
