should cease the smugness?

I know we don't have to read them (before anyone says that!) but I doubt that many of them would be shouting out in RL the equivalent of "Look at me! Look! LOOK at ME! Isn't my life SO great I had to tell you!'

I think it's because in RL they have few friends as they spend their lives weaving organic lentils so the only audience they have for their smuggery is the internet

I'm a smug blogger

50Wallabies · 29/10/2010 23:08

I think the problem with the internet is its just a farking easy method for nassistists to get the attention they crave.

Wonder if some of these realkly just need a hobby?

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 29/10/2010 23:30

Some of them are only blogging about their hobby though? Confused

Firawla · 29/10/2010 23:57

a lot of them seem to be american though, and that kind of thing is more acceptable over there?
some of them are quite endearing, i like enjoyingthesmallthings it is my favourite
they are annoying if they dont atleast take decent photographs, or those that only put the photographs and can not string a sentence together but the one i mentioned is quite lovely i think

I read a blog written by a woman who lives where I used to live. She has a lot of american fans who seem to think she's the UK's answer to Martha Stewart. It's a bit strange to be honest. She writes about herself and her house in rather lyrical terms and she is incredibly boastful. If you didn't know any better you'd be forgiven for thinking she has a glamorous existence but in reality I often see her shuffling around town wearing scruffy clothes and, despite her advice about being the perfect housewife, her house looks ordinary bordering on a bit grubby.

I have a blog, I stick bits of my books on there in the (small) hope some lovely publisher will see them.

togarama · 30/10/2010 00:43

Don't know if you're being unreasonable or not because I've never come across these blogs. Don't you have to go looking for this sort of thing to find it? I only know these sites exist from reading critiques on MN...

I always assumed that, as IRL, people gravitate towards stuff that they enjoy doing or would like to do themselves. I tend to land on websites about searching for yeti, negotiating with Italian train ticket inspectors, or how to remove interesting stains. I've never yet accidentally landed on a website about "crafts" or "home-making skills".

Perhaps you should explore the potential of the wider internet?

jonicomelately · 30/10/2010 00:49

I stumbled on the blog I've mentioned by accident. I kept reading because of a weird fascination. I don't do crafts or perfect housekeeping Blush

ZombieChickensHaveNoMercy · 30/10/2010 10:53

I have smug chickens. My ASBO Chicken has fans

HeadlessPrinceBilly · 30/10/2010 11:41

waterlooroadisadocumentary · 30/10/2010 11:43

I love smug blogs and wish I would be that organised. I am aspirationally smug.

I would love links to feed my habit

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 30/10/2010 23:17

Yes, please could we have more links so we can have a nose, to form our own opinions 2Silver?

As someone who has one of those blogs (although nothing like as perfect as many out there), I know that the reason mine has a distinct rose tinted shine to it is because I'm not remotely interested in reading back in three years time about what a shit time I had on the 6th of September or whatever. I'd much rather read about the fabulous loaf of bread I baked the next day and beautiful my house looked when I finally managed to clean it.

Plus I know I like to read blogs that are 99% positive and beautiful, and I'm not remotely interested in reading about the rest of their lives, so i figure most people who read me are much the same Smile

My favourite make-me-feel-inferior ones are the linen cat and soulemama. Fabulous for breeding feelings of inadequacy as a mother and a blogger.
