To not fancy Gerard Butler anymore, just like that...

He's been no.1 on my list (apart from DH of course...) for ages, I loved him in Phantom of the Opera and 300.

I really thought he was my perfect man, tall, chunky and handsome.....

So I started watching other films of his, which was a big mistake because it appears from them that he cannot actually act, and that he does a funny wobbly thing with his mouth when he talks (this wasn't apparent in Phantom, obviously, and also not in 300 - maybe that was the beard?).

We started watching The Bounty Hunter last night and switched it off after about ten minutes because I couldn't stand his wobbly mouthed hammy acting anymore, and suddenly last night I realised he just doesn't do it for me anymore. I think he still looks gorgeous in pics, but if I met him in real life, I don't think I would anymore, unless he didn't move his mouth maybe.

Am I shallow? And any suggestions for my new no.1?

Same here! 300 was so hot and it all went down hill from there...
I met johnny wilkinson from rugby last week and my jaw almost hit the floor, he had a lovely bit of stubble too so didn't look too wholesome...sigh!
Tbh I would with any of the England rugby squad

LetThereBeRock · 23/10/2010 15:02

YABU.He's gorgeous.I'll have him.

fastedwina · 23/10/2010 15:02

seems the wobbly mouth think is something to do with an accident he had years ago and some hearing loss so I heard. Never really did it for me anyway, I'll have Daniel Craig thanks!

sfxmum · 23/10/2010 15:21

he is very yuck he gathers spit at the corners of his mouth when he talks yuck yuck

only good thing he did was 300 which was rather silly and digitally enhanced but quite fun

otherwise yuck

sozzledchops · 24/10/2010 17:06

he does have a crazy, fixated set of fans who follow him about everywhere - almost creepy! I saw a middle aged lady at the checkout and spotted her GB key ring and had to check if there were hairs sprouting out her neck or somat!

PortoFangO · 24/10/2010 17:08

YABVU. However, if you don't want him, I will take him off your hands. Just to kind and helpful of course.

sozzledchops · 24/10/2010 17:11

Just don't watch his movies then Porto! That's what seems to kill it for many of his old fans and the celebrity whoring, it seems.

PortoFangO · 24/10/2010 18:16

DH has gone out tonight. I was thinking of a bit of the Ugly Truth.....if I can move my arse from the PC that is....

MooMooFarm · 24/10/2010 20:16

Have you seen it before? It was sooooooo bad. I'm never watching another rom com with him in cos it's too painful. Still fancy him in Phantom though ;b

The ugly truth is a fab film...I laughed my head off first time I saw that! And I so would with Gerard...YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

oneofthosedays · 24/10/2010 20:27

He was delish in Phantom, utterly gorge in 300, wasn't keen on the gore of Law Abiding Citizen and other films I have seem him in have been abismal. Think I'll stick to Phantom, over and over and over Grin

PortoFangO · 24/10/2010 20:41

I saw it at the pictures with other MNetters. We tittered over the mention of Lady Gardens.....Grin

PortoFangO · 24/10/2010 20:42

DD loves Nim's Island - great one for mum/dd bonding on the sofa with choc biscuits.

MooMooFarm · 24/10/2010 23:38

Ooh I'd forgotten that one, it was good actually, and his mouth didn't seem as wobbly (I think he wobbles more in rom-coms cos he knows deep down how crap they are and feels a bit silly).

Aww did you not love him in "PS I love you" ?

MooMooFarm · 24/10/2010 23:56

Noooo! I really wanted to; I'd read the book and it was fab, but he left me cold in the film. What was going on with his accent? He couldn't decide if he was doing Scottish/Irish/or American Confused

The Point of No Return scene in Phantom is possibly the hottest ever.
