...should stock more clothes in "popular sizes"!! Angry

I have been to three shops today to buy a couple of things I wanted for my kids and something for me and was told in all 3 shops that they had none left because in each case "it's a really popular size".

Then fucking order MORE of them!!!

It's cold, it's wintertime, people are possibly going to be on the lookout for warm coats and boots maybe??!!AngryHmm

Or should I have bought them back in August when we were all melting and I was falling over woolly hats and Ugg boots every shop I went into?!

Tis not rocket science is it???!!!!

sadly its just not that straight forward, as stores expect to buy stuff from suppliers for peanuts, suppliers have to make a profit & therefore sell stuff in a basic ratio, which means there is a balance of sizes bought in one go,

that way, the garment order doesn't use more fabric, than has been allowed in the costing that determines the price......for example, 14 or 16 being a more popular size, & then the store ordering more 14 16s & 18s, might mean the supplier actually losing money

cut throat buying offices to blame I'm afraid, its all run by accountants, rather than common sense :(

This always bugs me.

Basically have to buy stuff as soon as it's on shops or pre-season if possible.

I'll be buying ds's next years winter coats in Jan sales if they have the right sizes.

I did this last year and got lucky. But I could actually have done with another size up. It better not be too cold in April....

The shops NEVER seem to have any stock left of girl's size 5-6 yrs. It's fecking annoying, are there more female children of this age in our population than other age groups?

It also seems to be the same online.

I have the opposite problem - I'm on the edge of the size range in clothes and shoes. Topshop rarely stock 16s, and most shops don't even bother getting size 9 shoes in stock even if they make them.
