Okay, I don't feel I'm being unreasonable because I know the background and it's too complicated to explain but I couldn't think of where else to put this.

Does anyone elses mother do/say things that make you feel like screaming and pulling your hair out, however well intentioned?

Hi, there! Start looking around the Relationships boards, and you will find kindred spirits aplenty!

Yes, she did - all the time. Could be a complete bitch. Made me feel like a huge disappointment. Would often end up telling me to fuck off.

And then she died one night, completely out of the blue and I was overwhelmed by how utterly sad I felt.

I honestly thought that when she died I would just feel a relieved but it was completely different. Just a feeling of wasted opportunities, emotions, chances to be happier.

Yes.

'He doesn't eat his dinner because you give him snacks'
'I don't give him snacks'
'But if you give him snacks between meals he won't wan't his dinner'
'I don't give him snacks'
'But he's not hungry, if you give him snacks, he won't be hungry for his dinner'
'I don't give him snacks' [twitch]

[DS doesn't eat his dinner]

'it's because you give him snacks before his dinner' [left eye twitching]

grr. snarl. grr. ARRRGHHH.

I can completely understand that coolasacucumber.
I think often about how things could have been but weren't and how I will respond when she's no longer here. I'm glad I have at least tried to mend the relationship and it has improved somewhat, but I can't deny the deeper, more complicated feelings.
