Y'know, I watch Spooks for its realistic and gripping depiction of the work of the security and intelligence services. Mr Thornton turning up in it was just a bit of luck. But isn't RPJ just a bit, well, ordinary boy next door? (Apologies if Mrs RPJ is a MNer).

I'd do RPJ probably more than twice actually. He may be a bit clean cut but I think that I could put that to one side for a couple of hours.

I have only "lurked" on the RA thread 'til now, but am forced to speak. i don't understand how you can even mention RPJ in the same breath as him! Is nothing sacred!

Should also add that John Thornton trumps Lucas North. My DH has now figured out why I am suddenly interested in "action" type dramas.... Note Strike Back was recently repeated. I told DH I was interested in current global war situations in a fictional setting!

But it's true, Pacific. The SmallBloke and I have watched Spooks since the very first episode (and, in the days when the next week's episode was shown on BBC3 immediately after the BBC1 screening, used to watch each one twice) but it wasn't until Lucas glowered onto the screen that I saw any of the leads as potentially swoon-worthy.

This thread has been a revelation for so many reasons - I didn't know that Youtube was full of DIY fan videos, it had never occurred to me that people these days had fan websites (in the distant days of my yoof, one joined the David Essex fab club by sending an SAE to the record company) and I didn't know that RPJ was considered to be top spy totty.

But for anyone who is disillusioned and abandoning Lucas and Spooks, I offer you this .
