I get my contact lenses from a well known company - not sure if I can name and but its the one people 'should have gone to'.
I have dailys but a thicker lense as I have a tendancy to tear the thinner ones and have ended up in A&E to get the half thats stuck in my eye removed, thats including one Christmas Eve and once on the Norfolk Broads on holiday, so my London opticians spent a lot of time with me getting the right ones.
So this week I went to a branch on the island, had an eye test and contact lense health check.
I then had a phone call to say they were changing my lenses as mine had been discontinued, got a bit annoyed that I TOLD
not asked and when I complained was told 'no one else has complained' basically whats your problem attitude. I told them I needed to check the new ones against the ones I have and after a big sigh was given an appointment in THREE WEEKS
I phoned the lensmail people who deliver them to me who funnily enough would not tell me if they had been discontinued but would phone my branch, they did and told me I could have the same lenses, however despite being told three times my branch is now Ryde, they phoned my old London Branch, I have also phoned the makers and 3 on line lenses suppliers who have told me my lenses are NOT being discontinued.
I suspect Ryde is trying to fob me of with a cheaper alternative and I suspect that they think that as its an Island and there are only two branches that they have a monopoly
and I cant do anything.
Wrong I took my lenses to another opticians
who can supply and will also refit and the price is about the same
I know that the branches are franchises but really would expect the same level of service and care that I got from my London branch.
BTW they didnt give me my lenses prescription which they must do by law, so went in to get it and guess what there wasnt even an optician onsite so I am having to wait a week before I get that.
There is one good thing about the people I will be using now , they have a wonderful pair of PRADA glasses frames that I have fallen in lust with, and will be buying.
