Won't your service provider let you change your number, if you explain the situation to them?

DaisyDaresYOU · 19/09/2010 09:12

But would it end though.Im wondering how people are getting hold of my number tbh.I sent a what the bloody hell is going on post to my provider Blush and that i feel like coming of their network cos im sick of it.

Register with the TPS (telephone preference service) and you will cut out most, if not all of the "junk" calls.

borderslass · 19/09/2010 10:06

Is the TPS (telephone preference service) not just for landlines though.

bruffin · 19/09/2010 10:18

Have you tried googling your phone number and seeing if it is wrongly listed for someone else. I am sure the TPS will only stop cold calling, not wrong numbers ie the bailiffs trying to trace someone.

DaisyDaresYOU · 19/09/2010 10:38

I googled the strange looking numbers sounds like most of them are scams.which is why i won't answer.

Phone your provider and tell them you are being inundated with scams and junk calls and that you need them to do something about it.

threaten to give notice on them. Tell them you never gave them permission to sell your number, and that you will report them to ofcom if you have to.

Myleetlepony · 19/09/2010 16:04

Have you rung the bailifs to find out what is going on there?

RandyRussian · 19/09/2010 16:44

Agree these calls are a major PITA but I think answering them wastes the callers time and money so I try to do that. Sometimes can't be arsed tho must admit.

DaisyDaresYOU · 19/09/2010 16:49

Well i worry being on contract phoning them or answering incase its added on to my bill
