On top of everything else that has already been said, I think you would find that should a decision of magnitude actually need to be made, it's pretty fucking seriously sobering!

I personally wouldn't do it. You never know with a sick baby when you are going to get 'that' phone call from the hospital and need to be there.

I know someone who has just come back from a week long holiday in Cornwall while her baby is several hours away in NICU. Yes I do wear my judgy-pants.

One night out is a bit different to a week in Cornwall! I couldn't have done either, but I wouldnt' judge someone else for doing either....

The woman who went to Cornwall - does she have other children? I can kind of see if she has other children and a planned holiday for them, that maybe she felt she 'owed' the other chidlren some of her time too and I suppose it depends what is happening with the baby in NICU, if she's not allowed to hold the baby etc, then there isn't a lot she can do for that baby, but a lot she could do for her other 'babies' who have probably been missing out on a lot with the baby in NICU. If it was just a holiday with hubby and no other kids, I'd be a bit more Hmm but even then, you don't know what they've been through or what's happening in NICU do you? (or do you??)
