To think that this is strange behaviour for a bride at wedding do?

I am not exactly a prude and I suppose if a guest did this I'd think, 'Put it away, love' but wouldn't be surprised at the actions of a very drunk woman, however, I recently went to a wedding night/disco-type thing where the bride was very drunk and did the following:
She lay on her back, hitched up her dress (it was traditional frock-you know, cream, satiny, long etc) and started scissoring her legs wide apart so everything was on view.

Crikey, I'm no prude as such but this behaviour I found to be strange. AIBU?

Sounds like a wedding worth going to.

Yes, strange.

YANBU

bintofbohemia · 10/09/2010 17:58

This has made me laugh out loud. YADNBU. Was she mortified when she sobered up?

SauvignonBlanche · 10/09/2010 17:59

Did she have knickers on?

BellaEmbergsLovechild · 10/09/2010 18:00

Did she have pants on?
Just curious :o

pagwatch · 10/09/2010 18:00

what could have possibly happened imediately before that made herthink that that was what was next required of her?

BellaEmbergsLovechild · 10/09/2010 18:00

Lol at x-post

Blu · 10/09/2010 18:01

But a bride can do anything she likes because it's her day!

Miggsie · 10/09/2010 18:03

Was she touting for business?

FakePlasticTrees · 10/09/2010 18:03

you'd got to wonder if the grooms family would be mentioning annulment options at that point...

VivaLeBeaver · 10/09/2010 18:05

Was she showing off her blue garter or something ?

GeekOfTheWeek · 10/09/2010 18:05

Its her day hun Wink

LynetteScavo · 10/09/2010 18:07

Did she throw up shortly afterwards?

Were the scissor Sisters playing?

I take it no one joined in with her.

What the hell, it was her day. As long as she was wearing knickers, no harm done.

StealthPolarBear · 10/09/2010 18:08

were the band playing Like a Virgin?

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 10/09/2010 18:13

Maybe it was done to be sent into You've been framed

prozacfairy · 10/09/2010 18:18

Was caught on camera?

That would be something to show everyone at the Ruby wedding do. Grin

What was the groom's response? Did he join in?

My sister in law got merrily pissed at her evening wedding do and groped my boobs Blush and kept telling anyone who would listen including her MIL she wished she had my boobs. Her groom was very sweet and insisted hers were better. All together now: Awwww! That's love that is Grin

Northernlurker · 10/09/2010 18:21

Well if you can't do that on your wedding day when can you?

Grin

Yanbu - bet she's mortified now

Actually I hope she's mortified or the groom has some major problems!

KurriKurri · 10/09/2010 18:23

Where was the wedding? - hitching up your dress and leg scissoring is a tradition where I come from. Grin

MisterW · 10/09/2010 19:03

Are the photos on Facebook?

wildfig · 10/09/2010 19:59

Aw. I thought she was going to have insisted that all the under-5s were seated in a cattle pen, or that everyone had to come dressed in outfits costing £100+ or something.

I think my bridezilla expectations have been raised too high by AIBU.

marantha · 10/09/2010 20:18

KurriKurri Do the names 'William' and 'Kate' mean anything to you? Wink.

I think it was done to show off her garter- although I'd have thought hitching up her dress and showing a (horizontal, non-splayed) leg would be more acceptable.

Still can't believe it. I mean, she's always so demure.

I was standing across the room and there were a few tables between me and her. I saw that she was lying on the floor and went over to see what was happening. There she was opening and closing her legs in a strangely mechanical way while some other guests were laughing their heads off.

I thought: should she be doing this? Really, is this correct in modern times? I tried to get her off the floor and on to her feewhile trying to stop a close male friend of mine from taking photographs.

Effing weird scenario.
