Do you realise that you have neighbours who would sometimes like to sit in their gardens at some point in July/August and enjoy some peace and quiet!

OP posts:
fearnelinen · 23/07/2010 20:22

haha you're funny

TheCrackFox · 23/07/2010 20:24

It is unlikely that you would have been sat at home watching TV as there were no childrens programmes on when you were little.

Why do you think babyboomers are entitled to everything? Even more fun packed childhoods.

Is it not enough that you bought your house for a pittance and that you will get to retire far earlier, with a much better pension than those poor children?

Ripeberry · 23/07/2010 20:26

You should be glad they are in the garden having fun and not out at the front of the house kicking footballs against your car

bananalover · 23/07/2010 20:27

Why don't you just move house if you hate your neighbours kids so much?

Well,I'm fed up and 50ish too - trying to chivvy my children out into the fresh air and onto the trampoline is hard work,so the time they are out there is quite limited...
What on earth are they doing that is annoying you so much?

fedupand50ish · 23/07/2010 20:33

Bit off point really, sounds less about noisy children more like jealousy.
When I was a child I would go out exploring or doing crafts and not have all the paraphalia of trampolines, huge put-u-up pools and basketball nets etc.
Do the little darlings need all this stuff (which I never had - underpriveledged or what?)

OP posts:
ljgibbs · 23/07/2010 20:35

Miserasable twat

Pogleswood · 23/07/2010 20:36

I sympathise,fedup! We never had a swing..or a slide..or a trampoline,and my otherwise reasonable Mum thought playgrounds were unsafe!
My Dcs do only have the trampoline though - and i got to race around on my bike which they can't do where we are!

YABU. FFS. Its not 2am !

TheCrackFox · 23/07/2010 20:38

My children don't have trampolines, pools or basketball nets either. [miserable emoticon]

They are, however, still playing outside.

Just about to run a bath for them, their feet are black.

senseofhumourfailure · 23/07/2010 20:40

What exactly is it that they're doing that makes your life a misery? Just children playing in their gardens? Don't understand what the problem would be with others using their garden.
Think that people who live in communities with neighbours should be more tolerant if your concern is merely that children out playing make a noise

fedupand50ish · 23/07/2010 20:42

Of course I am miserable. Ear piercing shrieking from morning to evening, loads of other children joining the throng. Shouting from upstairs windows down the garden repeatedly. Gates banging, cars arriving and departing constantly as new playmates join the 6 week party.
Why am I supposed to love some one elses children?

OP posts:
Flisspaps · 23/07/2010 20:44

Go out into the street and run up and down it a few times shouting and screaming, banging gates and talking to children.

This time tomorrow all the children will be too scared to play out, and their parents will want to keep them in because of the mad old bat from up the street.

Not allowed to moan directly to the people concerned, that would probably be called intimidation in this day and age and as this thread has shown, there are a lot of aggressive people about

OP posts:
Wordsonascreen · 23/07/2010 20:50

I entirely agree OP

Well done !

Children should be allowed in the garden for exercise for an hour a day (suggest wimmins hour)

Other than that they should be gagged and bound or if they are fit and well sent up t'chimney and earn a decent living.

fedupand50ish · 23/07/2010 20:56

Am tired of you all now. I just wondered what sort of response I would get. As I thought, a lot of professional Mums whose lives are lived through their children. Bugger the rest of the world.

OP posts:
laydeestardust · 23/07/2010 20:58

You don't have to love them.

You do have to tolerate them, or move!

I'm sure my brood are annoying, and my cat too probably. I'm sure you'd hate us. Trampoline, swings, about 10 different musical instruments between us, several teenagers etc.

Sometimes my neighbours have bbqs, bonfires, parties, mow their lawn, let visitors block my drive, let their dogs yap etc

Do you know how we deal with this? We talk to each other, and are considerate to one another's needs.

They tell me if they are having a party, we tell them if DS1 is having friends round for a band practice.

It's called tolerance and communication

It works-try it!

(unless you're just on a wind up!!)

I'm certainly not professional

I failed my mcdonalds star badge phase one.

[failure to add gherkin]

bananalover · 23/07/2010 21:26

OP, I live next door to a bowling club. I am sick and tired of 50+ people parking their cars across my driveway, slamming car doors when dropping off their playmates, shouting when they win a match, standing on the street afterwards talking through the game, slamming their doors on way home, revving their engines, etc.
You over 50's make so much noise, I can't sit in my garden in peace!

Flisspaps · 23/07/2010 21:29

Can you charge for being a 'professional mum'? If so, I'll stop doing it as an amateur...

SanctiMoanyArse · 23/07/2010 21:29

I love hearing kids play; mine are in by 8 anyhow but can hear teh school from here- lovely (in erm time obv)
