that the company I sometimes do extra out of hours work for, declined to pay me extra for a shift they were desperate to fill on sunday, so now when Xh has the DD's on sunday I can go to the movies and for coffee and cake

you mean you're getting the ti me off?
No definitely not - how much coffee and cake time do you normally get? very little I bet if you're posting about it

oh I get no time off, I am a working single mum to a 8yr old and 2 yr old!
My XH is an arse and works away, so a whole precious sunday to myself (well 9am to 4pm), is a very rare treat!

Thing is I could do with the money and I do like to help them out, as they are pretty good employers, but I really didnt want to do it,and certainly not at normal rates, so I asked for a bit extra per hour (not a lot mind), and they found someone else!

So am quietly pleased the decision is no longer mine, and fully intend to enjoy my 8 hours of me time

Oh I see
Thought you meant you'd done the work and they weren't paying you but offering you the time instead

Either way - enjoy yourself!

Sorry Stealth, no its this sunday they need someone, they are always desperate last minute, but only pay their usual rates, I said I would do it for extra!
